The 2022 African Judo Championships was the 43rd edition of the African Judo Championships and were held at the Convention Centre Mohammed Ben Ahmed in Oran, Algeria from 26 to 29 May 2022, with the mixed team event taking place on the championships' last day. [2] [3] [4]

As of March 2018 he was ranked #9 in the world in the U73 kg division. Butbul was a member of the Israeli team that won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

Issam Bassou is a Moroccan judoka. He won gold medals at the 2019 African Games and the 2018 African Judo Championships in the men's ‍–‍60 kg category. His brother Imad Bassou is also a judoka.

Amina Belkadi is an Algerian judoka. She is a gold medalist at the African Games and a five-time gold medalist at the African Judo Championships. She also won bronze at the Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017 and at the Mediterranean Games in 2022.

Soumiya Iraoui is a Moroccan judoka. Iraoui is a silver medalist from the 2019 African Games and a six-time medalist, including three gold medals, at the African Judo Championships. Iraoui also represented Morocco at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

In 2021, she won the silver medal in her event at the African Judo Championships held in Dakar, Senegal. She also won one of the bronze medals in this event in 2014, 2019 and 2020.

Chaimae Eddinari is a Moroccan judoka. She is a gold medalist at the 2019 African Games and a bronze medalist at the 2021 African Judo Championships.

Mohamed Sofiane Belrekaa is an Algerian judoka. He represented Algeria at the 2019 African Games held in Rabat, Morocco and he won the silver medal in the men's +100 kg event.

Oumaima Bedioui is a judoka who competes internationally for Tunisia.

Boubekeur Rebahi is an Algerian, male Judo player, who played in both local and international championships. He played in Tunisia, Oran, Morocco and Belgium. He weighs 66 kg. It should be remembered that Algeria was tagged the most successful nation for African Judo Championships in 2022. Prior to that in 2021, Algerian Judo player named Fethi Nourine was banned for 10 years from competition by the International Judo Federation with his coach, Amar Benikhlef receiving 10 years ban, as well when they withdrew from facing an Israeli opponent in the second round of men's competition at the Boudakan. The duo revealed that they pulled out from the competition in support for the Palestinians.
