The 2022 FIBA U18 South American Championship was the 26th edition of the South American basketball championship for men's under-17/under-18 national teams. The tournament was played in Caracas, Venezuela, from 21 to 26 March 2022. [1] Brazil won the tournament for the 10th time. [2]
The tournament was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, the age category was increased from U17 to U18.
In the first round, the teams were drawn into two groups of four. The first two teams from each group advanced to the semifinals; the third and fourth teams advanced to the 5th–8th place playoffs.

The 2007 FIBA Americas Championships later known as the FIBA AmeriCup, was a basketball tournament held at Thomas & Mack Center, in Las Vegas, from August 22, to September 2. It was the thirteenth staging of the FIBA AmeriCup.
The 2009 FIBA Americas Championship, later known as the FIBA AmeriCup, was the continental championship held by FIBA Americas, for North, Central and South America and the Caribbean. This FIBA AmeriCup championship served as a qualifying tournament for the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey. Each of the top four finishers in the quarterfinal round robin qualified for the World Championship.
The USA women's national under-19 basketball team is the women's basketball team, administered by USA Basketball, that represents the United States in international under-19 and under-18 women's basketball competitions, consisting mainly of the FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship for Women and FIBA Under-19 World Championship for Women. The events were originally referred to as the FIBA Americas Junior World Championship Qualifying Tournament and the FIBA Junior World Championship.

The games were played in Tucuman and Neuquen. This FIBA AmeriCup was to earn the three berths allocated to the Americas for the 1996 Summer Olympics, in Atlanta. The United States did not participate in the tournament, as the team claimed the host berth in the Olympics. Puerto Rico defeated Argentina in the final, to win the tournament. Brazil beat Canada in the third place game, to claim the final Olympic berth.

The games were played in San Juan. This FIBA AmeriCup was to earn the four berths allocated to the Americas for the 1994 FIBA World Championship in Toronto. The United States defeated Puerto Rico in the final to win the tournament, although they had already qualified for the World Championship by winning the 1992 Summer Olympics basketball tournament. Argentina defeated Brazil in the third place game. Cuba defeated Venezuela in the 5th place game. All five nations qualified for the 1994 FIBA World Championship.

Puerto Rico defeated the United States in the final to win the tournament. Brazil, Venezuela, and Canada also qualified for the World Championship by finishing third through fifth, respectively.
The South American Under-17 Championship for Women is a basketball tournament held about every two years among the ten countries of South America and is organized in part by FIBA Americas. The tournament serves as a gateway to the FIBA Under-18 Women's AmeriCup. Through 2023, the tournament had been held 22 times.

This FIBA AmeriCup tournament was held in Caracas, Venezuela, from August 30, to September 11, 2013. The top four teams qualified for the 2014 FIBA World Cup.
The 2015 FIBA Americas Championship for Men, later known as the FIBA AmeriCup, was the FIBA Americas qualifying tournament for the 2016 Summer Olympics, in Brazil. This FIBA AmeriCup tournament was held in Mexico City, Mexico. The tournament was won for the first time by the Venezuelan national basketball team. Venezuela and runner-up Argentina, qualified directly for the 2016 Olympics. They joined the FIBA Americas member, United States, who qualified for the Olympics by virtue of winning the 2014 FIBA World Cup, and they elected not to participate at this tournament; and FIBA Americas member, Brazil, who finished 9th in the tournament, but qualified for the Olympics as the host nation. Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, the next three highest-finishing teams, qualified for the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, but none of them won their respective qualifying tournaments, therefore eliminating their 2016 Olympic hopes.
The 2016 FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship for Men was an international basketball competition that was held in Valdivia, Chile from July 19–23, 2016. It was the tenth edition of the championship, and was the FIBA Americas qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIBA Under-19 World Championship. Eight national teams from across the Americas, composed of men aged 19 and under, competed in the tournament. The United States won their fourth consecutive gold medal, and eighth overall, in this event by beating Canada in the final, 99–84.
The 2016 FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship for Women was an international basketball competition that took place in Valdivia, Chile from July 13–17, 2016. It was the eleventh edition of the championship, and was the FIBA Americas qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIBA Under-19 World Championship for Women. Eight national teams from across the Americas, composed of women aged 19 and under, competed in the tournament. The United States won their eighth consecutive gold in this event by beating Canada in the final, 109–62.
The 2018 Liga Sudamericana de Básquetbol, or 2018 FIBA South American Basketball League, was the 23rd edition of the second-tier level continental professional club basketball competition in the Americas, the FIBA Americas League. Sixteen teams from South America competed over three rounds to determine the champion. The defending champions, Guaros de Lara, did not have the opportunity to defend their title, after the Venezuelan Basketball Federation failed to register the team in the competition, alleging financial troubles. Franca of Brazil won their first Liga Sudamericana de Básquetbol championship in team history by beating Instituto of Argentina.
The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification for the FIBA Americas region began in April 2021 and concluded in February 2023. The process determined the seven teams that would participate at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
