The 2024 ACC Men's Challenger Cup, the second edition of the ACC Men's Challenger Cup, was played in Thailand in January and February 2024. [1] All of the matches had Twenty20 International (T20I) status, and the tournament was a part of the qualification pathway for the 2025 Asia Cup. [2]

Contents

Cambodia and Saudi Arabia qualified for the Premier Cup by winning their respective semi-final matches. [3] [4] Singapore beat Japan by 8 wickets in the third-place play-off. [5] Saudi Arabia beat Cambodia by 5 wickets in the final. [6] The victory meant that Saudi Arabia retained the trophy, [7] having won the 50-over format tournament in 2023. [8]

The Maldives National Men's Cricket Team represents the country of Maldives in international cricket. Although they did not become an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) until 2001, they have taken part in the ACC Trophy on every occasion since its inception in 1996. They have never progressed beyond the first round of the tournament. They became an associate member in 2017.

Saudi Arabia made its international debut at the 2004 ACC Trophy in Malaysia, and has since played regularly in Asian Cricket Council (ACC) tournaments. After finishing second in the 2014 ACC Elite League, the team qualified for the World Cricket League for the first time. Saudi Arabia was due to compete in the 2015 Division Six event, but members of the team were denied visas by the host country, forcing the team to withdraw.

The 2015 ACC Twenty20 Cup was an international cricket tournament that was held between 25 and 30 January 2015 in the United Arab Emirates. Oman won the round-robin tournament and qualified for the 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier, along with Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Nepal and UAE who did not play in this tournament as their T20I status had qualified them directly to the 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier to be held in Ireland and Scotland. The full members of the ACC automatically qualify for the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 tournament.

The 2019 ACC Western Region T20 was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament held in Oman from 20 to 24 January 2019. The five participating teams were Bahrain, Kuwait, Maldives, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The matches were all played at the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Muscat. All participating nations made their T20I debuts during the tournament, following the decision of the ICC to grant full Twenty20 International status to all its members from 1 January 2019. Saudi Arabia defeated Qatar – who had been unbeaten in the round-robin stage – in the final by 7 wickets. Qatar's Tamoor Sajjad was named the player of the tournament.

The 2022 Asia Cup Qualification was a men's cricket tournament which took place in Oman in August 2022 to determine qualification for the 2022 Asia Cup. The 2020 editions of the ACC Western and Eastern regional T20 tournaments were held in February and March of the same year by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Thirteen teams competed, with the aim of progressing to the qualifier. These were scheduled to be followed by the Asia Cup Qualifier tournament in Malaysia, which was due to be played in August 2020. However, in July 2020 the Asia Cup was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in the postponement of the qualifier. In May 2021, the Asian Cricket Council confirmed that there would be no Asia Cup in 2021, with that edition of the tournament deferred until 2023. It was later announced that there would be a T20I Asia Cup in 2022, to be hosted by the United Arab Emirates.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2024 ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League Play-off</span> International cricket tournament

The 2024 ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League Play-off is a cricket tournament taking place in February and March 2024, to decide the final four places in the Cricket World Cup Challenge League for the next World Cup cycle. It features the bottom four teams from the 2019–2022 ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League along with an additional four sides who did not participate in the 2019–2022 ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League and met the requirements. The best four sides emerging from the Challenge League Play-off competition qualify for the twelve-team World Cup Challenge League field for the next cycle. The eight teams were placed into two groups of four, with the top three teams from each group to advance to the Super Six stage.

The 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was a tournament that was played as part of qualification process for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in October 2021. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full international status to Twenty20 men's matches played between member sides from 1 January 2019 onwards. Therefore, all the matches in the Regional Qualifiers were played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The Asia Qualifier consisted of two sub-regional groups, A and B, with the groups being played in Qatar and Malaysia respectively. The winners of each sub-regional group progressed to one of two global qualifiers. On 2 September 2021, the ICC announced that Group A had been moved from Kuwait to Qatar.

A men's cricket event was held as part of the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from 27 September to 7 October 2023. Fourteen team competed in the event, and the participating teams were seeded according to their T20I rankings as of 1 June 2023. India won the Gold Medal, while Afghanistan finished as runners-up.

The 2022 GCC Women's Gulf Cup was a women's T20I cricket (WT20I) tournament played in Oman from 20 to 26 March 2022. Organised by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the tournament featured the women's national teams of Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. Bahrain and Saudi Arabia played their first official WT20I matches during this tournament.

The 2022 Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup was the eighth edition of the Women's Asia Cup tournament which took place from 1 to 15 October 2022 in Sylhet, Bangladesh. The tournament was contested between Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and United Arab Emirates. On 20 September 2022, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the schedule of the tournament. Bangladesh were the defending champions, having defeated India by three wickets in the final of the 2018 tournament to win the title for the first time. The tournament was played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The seven teams played in a round-robin stage, with the top four progressing to the semi-finals.

The 2022 Malaysia Quadrangular Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament took place in Malaysia in July 2022. The participating teams were the hosts Malaysia along with Bhutan, Maldives and Thailand.

The 2023 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was a cricket tournament that formed part of the qualification process for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

The 2022 Desert Cup T20I Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that took place in Oman in November 2022. The participating teams were the hosts Oman along with Bahrain, Canada and Saudi Arabia. The tournament was played as a double round-robin, with the top two sides advancing to the final. The T20I tournament was followed by a three-match 50-over series between Oman and Canada, as the Canadians prepared for the final event of the 2019–2022 ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League in Malaysia in December 2022.

The 2023 ACC Men's Challenger Cup was the inaugural edition of the ACC Men's Challenger Cup, hosted by Thailand in February and March 2023. The tournament was part of the qualification pathway for the 2023 Asia Cup.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 ACC Men's Premier Cup</span> International cricket tournament

The 2023 ACC Men's Premier Cup was a cricket tournament which took place in April and May 2023. It was the inaugural edition of the ACC Men's Premier Cup, and it served as the final stage of qualification for the 2023 Asia Cup tournament. It was held in Nepal, with the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground and Mulpani Cricket Stadium hosting matches. The winner of the tournament qualified for the 2023 Asia Cup. The top three teams including also qualified for the 2023 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Men's Gulf T20I Championship</span> International cricket tournament

The 2023 Men's Gulf T20I Championship was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that took place in Qatar in September 2023. The participating teams in the inaugural edition of the Gulf Championship were the hosts Qatar along with Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. All of the matches were played at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha. The top two sides in the round-robin advanced to the final.

The 2024 ACC Women's Premier Cup was the inaugural edition of the ACC Women's Premier Cup, hosted by Malaysia in February 2024. The tournament was a part of the qualification pathway for 2024 Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup. The Asian Cricket Council announced the complete fixtures for the tournament on 16 January 2024.

The 2024 Thailand Quadrangular Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that took place in Thailand in February 2024. The participating teams were the hosts Thailand as well as Bhutan, Maldives and Saudi Arabia. All fours teams were already in Thailand after having participated in the 2024 ACC Men's Challenger Cup, which ended on 11 February 2024.
