The 2024 Malang regency election will be held on 27 November 2024 as part of nationwide local elections to elect the regent of Malang Regency for a five-year term. The previous election was held in 2020.

Candidates

According to electoral regulations, in order to qualify for the election, candidates are required to secure support from a political party or a coalition of parties controlling 10 seats in the Malang Regional House of Representatives (DPRD). From the 2024 Indonesian legislative election, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle and the National Awakening Party won 13 and 11 seats respectively, allowing both parties to nominate candidates without forming a coalition. [1] Candidates may alternatively demonstrate support in form of photocopies of identity cards (i.e. run as an independent), which in Malang's case corresponds to 133,522 copies. No independent candidates registered with the General Elections Commission before the set deadline. [2]

Thoriqul Haq is an Indonesian politician of the National Awakening Party who served as the regent of Lumajang Regency, East Java, from 2018 to 2023. He had previously represented the regency along with Jember in the East Java Regional House of Representatives from 2009 to 2018.

Legislative elections were held across Indonesia's 38 provinces on 14 February 2024 to elect 2,372 members of the Provincial Regional House of Representatives and 17,510 members of municipal legislatures. Sanusi is an Indonesian politician of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle who has served as the regent of Malang Regency in East Java since 2018. He was previously vice regent between 2016 and 2018, when the regent Rendra Kresna was arrested. Between 1999 and 2014, he served in the regency's legislature as a member of the National Awakening Party.

Rendra Kresna is an Indonesian former politician who was the regent of Malang Regency, East Java between 2010–2015 and 2016–2018. He was elected twice in the 2010 and 2015 regency elections, but his second term was cut short when he was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission and sentenced to prison for bribery. He also served Malang's vice regent between 2005 and 2010, and was a member of the regency's Regional House of Representatives.

The 2024 Tangerang mayoral election will be held on 27 November 2024 as part of nationwide local elections to elect the mayor of Tangerang for a five-year term. The previous election was held in 2018.

The 2024 Bandung regency election will be held on 27 November 2024 as part of nationwide local elections to elect the regent of Bandung Regency for a five-year term. The previous election was held in 2020.

The 2024 Sukabumi regency election will be held on 27 November 2024 as part of nationwide local elections to elect the regent of Sukabumi Regency for a five-year term. The previous election was held in 2020.

The 2024 Garut regency election will be held on 27 November 2024 as part of nationwide local elections to elect the regent of Garut Regency for a five-year term. The previous election was held in 2018.
