The 2024 Sun Belt Conference baseball tournament was held at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama from May 21 to May 26. [2] The tournament used a double-elimination format as in past years. The winner of the tournament, Southern Miss, earned the Sun Belt Conference's automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. This was the second straight tournament title for Southern Miss, a team who has only been in the conference for two years. [3]

Seeding

Since 2017, the top ten teams (based on conference results) from the conference earn are invited to the tournament. The teams will be seeded based on conference winning percentage, with the bottom four seeds competing in a play-in round. The remaining eight teams will then play a two bracket, double-elimination tournament. The winner of each bracket will play a championship final. [4]

At that time, the football team began a transition from the second-level Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) to the top-level Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The team played the 2016 season as an FCS independent, joined SBC football for the 2017 season, and became full FBS members for 2018 and beyond. A Chanticleer is a proud and fierce rooster. Before joining the SBC, the Chanticleers had been members of the Big South Conference since that league's formation in 1983. Coastal fields varsity teams in 19 sports, 8 for men and 11 for women. The university regularly competed for the Sasser Cup, the Big South's trophy for the university with the best sports program among the member institutions, winning the trophy nine times, tied with rival Liberty University.

South Alabama successfully defended their title with a 1–0 championship game win over Georgia Southern in the final. This was the eighth Sun Belt women's soccer tournament title for the South Alabama women's soccer program and the fourth for head coach Richard Moodie. Eight of the last nine Sun Belt Women's Soccer Tournaments have been won by South Alabama. This was the first Sun Belt women's soccer tournament title for the Old Dominion women's soccer program and the first for head coach Angie Hind. Old Dominion won the Sun Belt Tournament in their first year as part of the conference. As tournament champions, Old Dominion earned the Sun Belt's automatic berth into the 2022 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament.

The 2023–24 James Madison Dukes men's basketball team represented James Madison University in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Dukes were led by fourth-year head coach Mark Byington and played their home games at the Atlantic Union Bank Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia as members of the Sun Belt Conference.

Old Dominion successfully defended their title as the second overall seed in the tournament. They defeated James Madison 2–1 in (overtime) in the Final. This was the second Sun Belt women's soccer tournament title for the Old Dominion women's soccer program, both of which have come under head coach Angie Hind. This was Old Dominion's third straight conference title as they won the Conference USA title in 2021 before moving to the Sun Belt Conference. As tournament champions, Old Dominion earned the Sun Belt's automatic berth into the 2023 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament.
