The finalists for the 36th Lambda Literary Awards , which honor works of LGBT literature published in 2023, were announced on March 27, 2024. The winners will be announced at Sony Hall in New York on June 11, 2024. [2] [3]

In this year there were seven special prizes, including two new awards: The Denneny Award for Editorial Excellence, named for history-making gay editor Michael Denneny, who passed away in 2023, and The Pat Holt Prize for Critical Arts Writing in honor of late San Francisco Chronicle book review editor Patricia Holt. [2]

Emanuel Xavier, is an American poet, spoken word artist, author, editor, and LGBTQ activist born and raised in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn. Associated with the East Village, Manhattan arts scene in New York City, he emerged from the ball culture scene and the Nuyorican movement to become a successful poet, writer and advocate for gay youth programs and Latino gay literature.

Martin Bauml Duberman is an American historian, biographer, playwright, and gay rights activist. Duberman is Professor of History Emeritus at Lehman College in the Bronx, New York City.

Lambda Literary Awards are awarded yearly by the United States-based Lambda Literary Foundation to published works that celebrate or explore LGBT themes. The awards are presented annually for books published in the previous year. The Lambda Literary Foundation states that its mission is "to celebrate LGBT literature and provide resources for writers, readers, booksellers, publishers, and librarians—the whole literary community."

The Lambda Literary Award for Gay Fiction is an annual literary award, presented by the Lambda Literary Foundation to a work of fiction on gay male themes. The finalists for the 35th Lambda Literary Awards, which honor works of LGBT literature published in 2022, were announced on March 15, 2023. The winners were announced in New York on June 9.
