Eros, provisional designation 1898 DQ, is a stony asteroid of the Amor group and the first discovered and second-largest near-Earth object. It has an elongated shape and a volume-equivalent diameter of approximately 16.8 kilometers. Visited by the NEAR Shoemaker space probe in 1998, it became the first asteroid ever studied from orbit around the asteroid.
NGC 188 is an open cluster in the constellation Cepheus. It was discovered by John Herschel in 1825. It was discovered on September 29, 1829 by John Herschel, and was described by John Dreyer as "cluster, small, a little compressed." The cluster is considered on the poor side, with only 12 stars above magnitude 16. It has a linear diameter of 26.3 ly, with around 479 times the mass of the Sun and an age of 65 million years.
HD 194953 is a solitary star in the equatorial constellation Delphinus. It is faintly visible to the naked eye with an apparent magnitude of 6.19 and is located 414 light years away. However, it is approaching the Solar System with a heliocentric radial velocity of −28 km/s.
