Established as a secondary title on March 30, 2020, it is named after the TNT television network, which airs AEW's weekly programs, Collision and Rampage, as well as the promotion's Battle of the Belts quarterly television specials. The inaugural champion was Cody Rhodes. The reigning champion is Daniel Garcia, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating Jack Perry at Full Gear on November 23, 2024.

The event aired on TNT as a series of television special episodes of AEW's weekly television program, Dynamite. The two-week event took place at Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida and was broadcast on July 1 and 8, 2020. While night 1 aired live, night 2 was pre-recorded on July 2 and aired on July 8.
AEW Fight for the Fallen is a professional wrestling event produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Established in 2019, it is held as a charity event for different causes, which is a reference to the event's title. These events have helped raise money to support victims of different types of violence, people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and various other non-profit organizations and natural disaster relief. Since 2020, Fight for the Fallen has been held as a television special of AEW's weekly television programs. The event was originally held during the summer in July but was pushed back to August in 2023. An event was not held in 2024 but returned on New Year's Day in 2025.

Established by the promotion in 2020, it celebrates the company's return to its home venue of Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida. The December 2021 New Year's Smash was the second New Year's Smash professional wrestling television special produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). It took place on December 29, 2021, at Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida. The two-part event was broadcast on TNT as special episodes of AEW's weekly television programs, Wednesday Night Dynamite and Friday Night Rampage. Dynamite aired live while Rampage aired on tape delay on December 31. It was the second New Year's Smash event to be held in 2021, after the first took place in January. The Dynamite broadcast was the show's final episode on TNT as Dynamite moved to TNT's sister channel TBS on January 5, 2022.

The two-part event was broadcast as special episodes of AEW's weekly television programs, Wednesday Night Dynamite and Friday Night Rampage. It took place on January 26, 2022, at Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Dynamite aired live on TBS while Rampage aired on tape delay on TNT on January 28. A Beach Break special was not held in 2023 but the show returned in July 2024.
