A Snowflake Fell (and It Felt Like a Kiss) is a Christmas-themed EP by the Scottish indie rock band Glasvegas, released on 1 December 2008 via Columbia Records. [2]

Recording, mixing & mastering

The album was recorded in the United States and Romania over twelve days in October 2008. The band spent one week recording with Rich Costey, who they had previously worked with earlier in the year on their eponymous debut studio album, Glasvegas . [3] [4] The band then flew to Transylvania where they spent a further week recording in a Citadel which they converted into a small recording studio. [5] The Concentus Choir, featured on the track "Silent Night/Noapte de Vis," was recorded at St. Nicholas Church in Braşov. [2]

Release and reception

A Snowflake Fell (and It Felt Like a Kiss) was released as a limited edition standalone CD and as part of a special edition double CD with the band's debut album Glasvegas , [6] featured in a small box with fold-out poster, and separately as a digital download. [2] The album has reached number 59 on the Swedish Albums Chart. [7] The song "A Snowflake Fell (and It Felt Like a Kiss)" has reached number 17 on the Swedish Singles Chart and number 95 on the UK Singles Chart. [7] [8] "Please Come Back Home" has also reached number 76 on the UK Singles Chart. [8]

Bloc Party are an English rock band, composed of Kele Okereke, Russell Lissack, Justin Harris and Louise Bartle. Former members Matt Tong and Gordon Moakes left the band in 2013 and 2015 respectively. Their brand of music, whilst rooted in rock, retains elements of other genres such as electronica and house music. The band was formed at the 1999 Reading Festival by Okereke and Lissack. They went through a variety of names before settling on Bloc Party in 2003. Moakes joined the band after answering an advert in NME magazine, while Tong was picked via an audition. Bloc Party got their break by giving BBC Radio 1 DJ Steve Lamacq and Franz Ferdinand's lead singer, Alex Kapranos, a copy of their demo "She's Hearing Voices".

Dirty Pretty Things (band)

Dirty Pretty Things were an English band fronted by Carl Barât, a member of The Libertines. The formation of the band was announced in September 2005, after a dispute between Barât and Pete Doherty led to the breakup of The Libertines in 2004. Barât had worked with Vertigo Records and had previously revealed that his new project was with the label. Didz Hammond announced he was leaving the Cooper Temple Clause to join the band alongside Libertines drummer Gary Powell and guitarist Anthony Rossomando, who had filled in for Doherty following his departure from The Libertines. "Flowers & Football Tops" is a song by Scottish Indie rock band Glasvegas, taken from their self-titled debut album. The song first appeared in a different recording as the B-side to the band's second single release "Daddy's Gone" in November 2007 on Sane Man Records, and was rerecorded and released as a single in the UK on 23 February 2009. The song was written and composed by the band's singer and guitarist James Allan, who explained that the song is about the murder of Kriss Donald to The Daily Record: "Sometimes when you read things or see things on TV, you can't help but put yourself in the position of people's misfortune. That was on my mind when I heard about the murder of Kriss Donald. It's about a kid who never made it home." The title is a reference to the practice common in Britain of laying shirts of the deceased's preferred football team alongside wreaths of flowers. The flowers and footballs tops may be laid at the graveside, or - as is often the case with a violent death - at the place where they died.

The discography of Glasvegas, a Scottish Indie rock band, consists of three studio albums and twelve singles. James Allan, Rab Allan (guitar), Paul Donoghue (bass) and Jonna Lofgren (drums) formed the band in Glasgow, Scotland in 2003. The band's debut single was the limited edition double A-side single, "I'm Gonna Get Stabbed"/"Ina Lvs Rab", which was released in May 2004. Three further independent singles were released through WaKS and Sane Man, all of which failed to chart. Despite this, "Daddy's Gone", released on Sane Man Recordings, was voted the No.2 single of the year by the NME.
