Usmanu Danfodiyo University,Sokoto (UDUS),also known as UDUSOK,is a public research university located in the city of Sokoto,north western Part of Nigeria. It is one of the initial twelve universities founded in Nigeria by the federal government in 1975.

Muhammad Bala Shagari;born 17 March 1949) is a retired Nigerian military officer and the district head of Shagari Local Government in Sokoto State,Nigeria. He holds the traditional title of Sarkin Mafara of Shagari. He is the first son of Nigeria’s first elected president Shehu Shagari. He was the first to be a presidential first son in Nigeria. He was in the military during his father’s presidency

In 1999,she was made commissioner for women affairs and social development by Attahiru Bafarawa-led administration. Madawaki is also an advocate for the representation of Nigerian women in politics.

The 2023 Sokoto State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023,to elect the Governor of Sokoto State,concurrent with elections to the Sokoto State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
The 2019 Nigerian Senate election in Sokoto State was held on February 23,2019,to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Sokoto State. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko representing Sokoto North,Shehu Abubakar Tambuwal representing Sokoto South and Abdullahi Ibrahim Gobir representing Sokoto East all won on the platform of All Progressives Congress. But the Court of Appeal Sokoto Division on 30 October 2019 sacked Shehu Abubakar Tambuwal representing Sokoto South on the platform of All Progressives Congress. Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party replaced the sacked senator.
Hadiza Dawaiya Shagari,also known as Hadiza Shehu Shagari was a Nigerian public figure,former First Lady of Nigeria from 1979 to 1983,and widow of Shehu Shagari.
The Shehu Shagari College of Education is a state government higher education institution located in Sokoto,Sokoto State,Nigeria. It is affiliated to Ahmadu Bello University and Usmanu Danfodiyo University for its degree programmes. The current Provost is Wadata Hakimi.
The 2019 Sokoto State House of Assembly election was held on March 9,2019,to elect members of the Sokoto State House of Assembly in Nigeria. All the 30 seats were up for election in the Sokoto State House of Assembly.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Sokoto State will be held on 25 February 2023,to elect the 3 federal Senators from Sokoto State,one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election,as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives;with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
