Abhijit Guha is an Indian film director, actor and writer working in the Tollywood film industry. Guha and Sudeshna Roy have worked together in the field of audio visuals since 1994. [1] [2] [3] The duo debuted with their first film Shudhu Tumi [4] and then they made several films in varied genres. They've given Tollywood one of its biggest stars — Abir Chatterjee, [2] who debuted in their film Cross Connection in 2009. They came into prominence after their critically acclaimed [5] film Teen Yaari Kotha. It's a story of personal struggles and friendship of three lower-middle-class men. Teen Yaari Katha was showcased in the competition section of Osian's Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema in 2012. It travelled to the Bangkok International Film as well as Kolkata International Film Festival .[ citation needed ]Their film Bapi bari jaa is considered as cult classic among the Bangla film lovers for its coming of age storyline and relatable characters. It also marked the debut of Arjun Chakraborty and MP Mimi Chakraborty in Bangla film industry.[ citation needed ]

Their film Jodi Love Dilena Praane [6] was another well received film and was selected in the Indian Panorama section of the International Film Festival of India in Goa in 2014. It was showcased at the Pune Film Festival in India, and won a certificate of appreciation at the Fiji International Film Festival in 2015.[ citation needed ]

Their film Benche Thakar Gaan : The Song of Life ran in theatres for the nine weeks and was selected as the inaugural film for the Kolkata International Film Festival [7] film Benche Thakar Gaan 2016. This is the first time in history that a Bengali language film was given this honour. Their film Sraboner Dhara [8] is a part of the Asian Select Competition Section KIFF 2019, Kolkata. It was showcased in Toronto at the IFFSA fest in May, 2019. Sraboner Dhara was released on 7 February 2020 in India and was running to full houses on its 6th week when the COVID-19 lockdown cut it short.[ citation needed ]

Besides, directing films and TV series, he has also acted in many films. He played the role of Jibon Da in the extremely popular web series Dupur Thakurpo.[ citation needed ]

Teen Yaari Katha is a 2012 Bengali language comedy film by the director team of Sudeshna Roy and Abhijit Guha. The Bengali musical group Bhoomi composed the film's music. The film tells the story of three middle class friends and their personal struggles. The film's release was delayed by censors due to its sexual themes. It premiered at the 2006 Osian Film Festival and was screened at the World Film Festival of Bangkok and the Kolkata Film Festival.

Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival (HBFF) is a Bengali film festival in the city of Hyderabad and is being organized annually since 2014. The venue of the festival is the Prasad Film Preview Labs, Hyderabad. The first edition of the film festival was held in the year 2014. It is the only curated Bengali film festival in India.

<i>Sraboner Dhara</i> 2020 film

Sraboner Dhara is an Indian Bengali drama film directed by Sudeshna Roy and Abhijit Guha. Starring Soumitra Chatterjee and Parambrata Chatterjee, the film deals with Alzheimer's disease, the issues faced by the younger generation, and the emotional attachment established with the medical caregivers of the older generation. It is based on Dr. Subhendu Sen's short story, Between Raindrops, and scripted by Padmanabha Dasgupta.

The West Bengal Film Journalists' Association Award for Best Director is given yearly by WBFJA as a part of its annual West Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards for Bengali films, to recognize the best director of the previous year.

Siddhartha Sankar "Sidhu" Ray is an Indian singer, lyricist, composer, playback writer, and actor from Kolkata, West Bengal. He is a producer of the Bangla Rock genre. Prior to pursuing his career in music, Ray left his dream profession of being a doctor at and formed the band Cactus, of which he is the frontman. The band offered a new genre in the Bengali music scene—a Bengali rock band. Songs like "Holud Paakhi" have become a household name. Ray also hosted quiz shows as a quiz master, presented in a musical game show, and a singer as a soloist in many Bengali films. Since then, he has gone on to compose, write lyrics, and sing for his band. In 2003, he and his band made their debut in Tollywood, composing songs for Nil Nirjane. Kolkata Poetry Confluence is an international multilingual literary fest bringing together poets, translators, poetry publishers and poetry lovers at Kolkata. The event is organised by Antonym Magazine and Bhasha Samsad also includes a poetry book fair.

The 28th Kolkata International Film Festival was held from 15th to 22nd December 2022 at Netaji Indoor Stadium, in Kolkata, India. The festival opened with 1973 film Abhimaan, by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. 183 films including 130 feature films and 52 short and documentary films from 42 countries were screened during 7 days of the festival. The opening ceremony was attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Mahesh Bhatt and cricketer Sourav Ganguly.

Sani Ghose Ray is an Indian Film director and producer based out of Kolkata. He is also one of the founder members of the production house Acropoliis Entertainment along with a line production company Greyscale Entertainment.
