Sudeshna Roy is an Indian film director, actor and writer based in Tollywood. She started her career as an entertainment journalist before collaborating with the director Abhijit Guha and foraying into the film industry. [1] She is a popular artist in the Bangla Entertainment Industry. Besides directing films, she acted in several films, daily soaps and web series. The duo debuted with their first film Shudhu Tumi , [2] and then they made several films in varied genres. However, they are known to make urban middle-class romantic comedy films. They worked with Abir Chatterjee, [1] who debuted in their film Cross Connection in 2009. They came into prominence after their critically acclaimed [3] film Teen Yaari Kotha. Teen Yaari Katha was showcased in the competition section of Osian's Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema in 2012. It travelled to the Bangkok International Film as well as Kolkata International Film Festival . [4] Their film Bapi bari jaa is considered a cult classic among the Bangla film lovers. It also marked the debut of Arjun Chakraborty and MP Mimi Chakraborty in the Bangla film industry.

Their film Jodi Love Dilena Praane [5] was another well-received film and was selected for the Indian Panorama section of the International Film Festival of India in Goa in 2014. It was showcased at the Pune Film Festival in India and won a certificate of appreciation at the Fiji International Film Festival in 2015.

Benche Thakar Gaan: The Song of Life ran in theatres for the nine weeks and was selected as the inaugural film for the Kolkata International Film Festival [6] film Benche Thakar Gaan 2016. This is the first time in history that a Bengali language film was selected. Their film Sraboner Dhara [7] is a part of the Asian Select Competition Section KIFF 2019, Kolkata. It was showcased in Toronto at the IFFSA fest in May, 2019. Sraboner Dhara was released on 7 February 2020 in India and was running to full houses on its sixth week when the COVID-19 lockdown cut it short.

Anjan Dutt

Anjan Dutt is an Indian film director, actor, and singer-songwriter known for his work in the Bengali alternative music genre anyodharar gaan. Teen Yaari Katha is a 2012 Bengali language comedy film by the director team of Sudeshna Roy and Abhijit Guha. The Bengali musical group Bhoomi composed the film's music. The film tells the story of three middle class friends and their personal struggles. The film's release was delayed by censors due to its sexual themes. It premiered at the 2006 Osian Film Festival and was screened at the World Film Festival of Bangkok and the Kolkata Film Festival.

Paoli Dam Indian actress

Paoli Dam is an Indian actress who started her career with the Bengali television serial Jibon Niye Khela (2003). She then worked in Bengali television serials such as Tithir Atithi and Sonar Harin; the former ran for six years on ETV Bangla. Dam spent her childhood in Kolkata, earning a postgraduate degree in chemistry from Rajabazar Science College. Initially, she wanted to become a chemical researcher or a pilot. <i>Autograph</i> (2010 film)

Autograph is a 2010 Indian Bengali drama film by debutant director Srijit Mukherji. The movie is a tribute to Satyajit Ray's 1966 film Nayak and yesteryear Bengali actor Uttam Kumar, who portrayed the title role in the film. This was the First of the forthcoming Long Collaboration between Srijit Mukherjee & Prosenjit Chatterjee. The movie is being remade in Malayalam.

Rii Sen is an Indian actress who works in Bengali cinema. She started her career as a freelance model and television actress. Her debut film was Tepantorer Mathe, but it was not released in theatres because of obscene scenes. She has acted in movies like Bishh, Gandu, and Cosmic Sex.

<i>Ekla Cholo</i>

Ekla Cholo is a Bengali television movie directed by Abhijit Guha and Sudeshna Roy. The movie features Saayoni Ghosh and June Malia in the main roles. The film was jointly produced by Zee Bangla Cinema and Prosenjit Chatterjee. In 2014, Zeke Bangle Cinema and Proserpine Chatterjee agreed to jointly produce movies to be shown directly on TV. Ekla Cholo was the first attempt by the partnership, and the film enjoyed widespread popularity and received 21a score of in Target Rating Point.

Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival (HBFF) is a Bengali film festival in the city of Hyderabad and is being organized annually since 2014. The venue of the festival is the Prasad Film Preview Labs, Hyderabad. The first edition of the film festival was held in the year 2014. It is the only curated Bengali film festival in India.

<i>Akash Choan</i>

Akash Choan, is an Indian Bengali romcom film based on Procheto Gupta's short story Nadi and is directed by the duo of Abhijit Guha and Sudeshna Roy. The story revolves around Niladri, his wife Suchismita, their son Rayan, their neighbour Kaushik and Suchismita's sister Nibedita. The film was one of the Zee Bangla films released on television.

<i>Sraboner Dhara</i> 2020 film

Sraboner Dhara is an Indian Bengali drama film directed by Sudeshna Roy and Abhijit Guha. Starring Soumitra Chatterjee and Parambrata Chatterjee, the film deals with Alzheimer's disease, the issues faced by the younger generation, and the emotional attachment established with the medical caregivers of the older generation. It is based on Dr. Subhendu Sen's short story, Between Raindrops and scripted by Padmanabha Dasgupta.

The 24th Kolkata International Film Festival took place from 10 Nov 2018 – 17 Nov 2018. Celebrating 100 Years of Bengali cinema, Around 171 films and 150 short and documentary films from 70 countries was screened at the festival.
