Abhishek Verma (born 26 June 1989) is an Indian archer. At the 2014 Asian Games at Incheon, South Korea, he won the gold medal in the men's compound archery team event along with Rajat Chauhan and Sandeep Kumar, and the silver medal in the men's individual compound event. [1] [2] On 15 August 2015, he won a gold medal in the compound men's individual section at the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Wroclaw, Poland. [3] On 25 October 2015, he won the silver medal in the compound men's individual section at the Archery World Cup Final in Mexico city. [4]

The Indian men's compound team, that was composed of Abhishek Verma, Chinna Raju Srither and Amanjeet Singh, won bronze on the penultimate day of the archery World Cup stage one championship in Shanghai, after defeating Colombia for 226–221. [5]

Abhishek Verma works as an income tax Asst. Commissioner in the Income Tax Department. [6] He backs his position by holding the top rank in selection trails. [7] [8]

On 17 November 2021, he won the bronze medal in the men's compound archery team event along with Rishabh Yadav and Aman Saini at the 22nd Asian Archery Championship in Dhaka, Bangladesh. [9] [10]

In Year 2022, teaming with Jyothi Surekha Vennam, he won gold medal in compound mixed team archery event in Archery World Cup held at Paris,France. [11]

Personal and early life

He was born in New Delhi. While he was studying in a government school in Model Town in Delhi, he asked his physical training teacher regarding which sports he must play and the teacher suggested he must take up the archery. [12]

Abhishek Verma won gold and silver medals at the 2014 Asian Games. In Asian Games 2018 he won a team silver medal with Rajat Chauhan and Aman Saini. [13]

Jyothi Surekha Vennam is an Indian compound archer. She has won multiple gold medals in the compound archery event at the Archery World Cup, World Archery Championships and Asian Games. In 2023, she became the first Indian archer to win a gold medal at the World Archery Championships and multiple gold medals at the Asian Games. She was awarded the Arjuna award, India's second highest sporting honor in 2017 becoming the youngest from South India to win the award.

Rajat Chauhan is an Indian archer. Chauhan won a silver medal in the World Archery Championships in Copenhagen, becoming the first Indian to win an individual medal in compound archery at the World Championships. He won the Gold Medal Asian Games 2014 in Incheon in the men's compound archery team event along with Abhishek Verma and Sandeep Kumar. In 2014 he also became the first Indian compound archer to qualify for the Archery World Cup final, and in 2015 reached the final of the 2015 World Archery Championships.

The Indian Men's recurve team consisting of Atanu Das, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Tushar Shelke won the silver medal at the 2022 Asian Games. They lost the final to Republic of Korea.

Ankita Bhakat is an Indian recurve archer who is currently ranked world number 20 by the World Archery Federation. Aditi Gopichand Swami is an Indian archer from Maharashtra. She became India's first ever individual world champion at the senior level when she won the Gold in the Compound Women's final at the 2023 World Archery Championships.

Ojas Pravin Deotale is an Indian archer currently ranked 9th in the world. On 5 August 2023, he won the gold medal in the men's individual compound event at 2023 World Archery Championships in Berlin, becoming the first Indian male archer to do so. He also medalled at the 2022 Asia Cup and the 2023 Archery World Cup.

BommadevaraDhiraj is an Indian archer from Andhra Pradesh. He represents India in the recurve men's individual and team events. In the recurve men, he is ranked 15th in the World Rankings. He is selected to represent Indian the 2022 Asian Games at Hangzhou, China. The Indian Men's recurve team consisting of Atanu Das, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Tushar Shelke won the silver medal at the 2022 Asian Games. They lost the final to Republic of Korea.

Tushar Prabhakar Shelke is an Indian archer. He represents India in the recurve men's individual and team events. He is selected for the Indian Archery team to take part in the 2022 Asian Games at Hangzhou, China. The Indian Men's recurve team consisting of Atanu Das, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Tushar Shelke won the silver medal at the 2022 Asian Games.

Sarita Devi is an Indian para-archer from Jammu and Kashmir. She won a silver and a bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Para Games.
