Academia is an English-medium school in Dhaka [1] with multiple campuses in the city. It has campuses in Lalmatia, [2] Dhanmondi, Mirpur, Gulshan, Uttara, Malibag, Wari and Banasree. It was established in 2002. The primary language of instruction is English. It offers classes from Playgroup to A-Levels (12). The school follows both Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) & Pearson Edexcel Curriculum.

Thousands of students appear for their O and A level examinations through Academia each year. Academia hosts a yearly ceremony to recognize their high achievers in O and A levels and has boasted a few hundred recipients in the past few years. [4]
Academia is well known for its prowess in English Debating: between 2015 and 2017, Academia Debate Club (ADC) won all 3 national championships, ranking as the best in Bangladesh. [5] In addition, Academia students have represented Bangladesh at the World Schools Debating Championship in 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019. [6] Besides, Academia students have justified why they are amongst the top English Medium Schools in Bangladesh by winning a plethora of other debate and public speaking competitions over the years, one of the most notable being IUB Ascension--an international tournament held in Dhaka in 2019. In the process, they faced teams from IBA-DU, University of Oxford, IUT and other notable debating institutions across the world. [7]

Lalmatia is a small residential area located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is a part of Mohammadpur Thana and is located at the south side of Mohammadpur, bordering with Dhanmondi and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) was the former self-governing corporation that was entrusted with the task of administering the municipal affairs of Dhaka. The incorporated area was divided into several wards. Each ward has an elected ward commissioner. The mayor of the city was elected by popular vote every five years, although the last mayoral election took place in 2002. The corporation was dissolved by the Local Government Amendment Bill 2011 on 29 November, passed in the Parliament of Bangladesh, and formally ceased to exist on 1 December 2011, following the President's approval, making way for a Dhaka North and a Dhaka South city corporations.

Alliance Française de Dhaka or AFD is a nonprofit organization which has been working in Bangladesh since 1959. Located at Dhanmondi, Dhaka. Sometimes referred as the French Cultural Center, Alliance Française de Dhaka works independently in close liaison with the High Commission of France in Bangladesh.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) or Dhaka Uttar City Corporation was created as an autonomous body that governs 54 northern wards of Dhaka to better manage local services, but has since added new areas. It is one of two municipal corporations in Dhaka, the other being Dhaka South City Corporation. Annisul Huq was the first mayor of the Dhaka North City Corporation, after being elected in April 2015. Md. Atiqul Islam is the current mayor of DNCC since 7 March 2019. The area was 82.69 km2 until 2017 when it underwent expansion to 197 km2. Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) published Population and Housing Census 2022 with 5,979,537 people residing in it, for average density of 30,353 people per km2.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, commonly known as DMTCL, is a government-owned company responsible for operating Dhaka Metro Rail, a mass rapid transit system in Dhaka and adjoining areas. The company was established on 3 June 2013 under the Companies Act 1994, a law that governs companies in Bangladesh. Out of 5 metro lines planned by the DMTCL, the MRT Line-6 was inaugurated on 28 December 2022 by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
