Dhaka, formerly known as Dacca, is the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. It is the ninth-largest and eighth-most densely populated city in the world with a density of 23,234 people per square kilometer within a total area of approximately 300 square kilometers. Dhaka is a megacity, and has a population of 10.2 million residents as of 2024, and a population of over 23.9 million residents in Dhaka Metropolitan Area. It is widely considered to be the most densely populated built-up urban area in the world. Dhaka is the most important cultural, economic, and scientific hub of Eastern South Asia, as well as a major Muslim-majority city. Dhaka ranks third in South Asia and 39th in the world in terms of GDP. Lying on the Ganges Delta, it is bounded by the Buriganga, Turag, Dhaleshwari and Shitalakshya rivers. Dhaka is also the largest Bengali-speaking city in the world.

Mohakhali General Market is situated beside the flyover bridge close to the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
Baridhara is an upscale residential area in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is located on the east of and north east of Gulshan across Gulshan-Baridhara Lake. It has special zones designated for diplomats, and many of the city's foreign embassies and high commissions are situated here. There are mainly three areas diplomatic zone mainly in the south-west portion, general residential area in eastern portion and an adjacent DOHS area in north-east portion.

Jagannath University (JnU) is a public university located in Sadarghat, Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Chhatra League, formerly known as the East Pakistan Student League, simply called the Chhatra League, is a students' political organisation in Bangladesh, founded by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 4 January 1948. BCL is the wing of the Bangladesh Awami League. Nowadays, BCL has been labeled as a terrorist organization in Bangladesh due to its involvement in violent actions and intimidation against students and civilians.
Abdul Monem Khan was a Bengali politician of East Pakistan who was the longest serving governor of East Pakistan from 1962 until 1969. He was assassinated in 1971 at aged 72.
The Dhaka Metro Rail, or simply the Dhaka Metro, is a mass rapid transit system serving Dhaka, the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. It is operated by the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL). Together with the under construction Dhaka BRT, proposed Dhaka Subway and Dhaka suburban circular rail, it is expected to reduce traffic congestion in the city. The metro rail network has five planned lines which are the MRT Line 6, the only operational line, MRT Line 1 and MRT line 5, which are under construction, and MRT Line 2 and MRT Line 4, which are in the planning stages. It is part of the Strategic Transport Plan outlined by the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA).

Banani is an upscale residential and commercial neighbourhood and a thana of Dhaka. It hosts five-star hotels, upscale restaurants, luxury apartments, international schools, and the offices of many local and multinational companies. Banani is considered an important central business district, and its commercial landscape is among the most important in Dhaka, coming after the likes of the nearby financial district of Gulshan Avenue, Karwan Bazar, Tejgaon Industrial Area and downtown Motijheel CBD, the nation's largest and most important CBD.
A series of public protests in Bangladesh advocating improved road safety were held from 29 July to 10 August 2018. They were sparked by the deaths of two high-school students in Dhaka struck by a bus operated by an unlicensed driver who was racing to collect passengers. The incident impelled students to demand safer roads and stricter traffic laws, and the demonstrations rapidly spread throughout Bangladesh.

The Rapid Pass is a smart card automated fare collection system based on near-field communication (NFC) technology used on participating public transit systems in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Rapid Pass card readers were implemented on a trial basis in 2017. Full implementation began in January 2018 and it was rolled out across rapid transit stations, railway stations, bus stops and terminals, and transit vehicles on many different transit systems.
New Dhaka, is an unofficial term used to describe the area located north of Old Dhaka that has been incorporated in the city of Dhaka, the capital and largest city of Bangladesh, over time. The term is ambiguous, as it may refer either to upscale and/or planned neighbourhoods with wider streets, modern buildings, and improved facilities, or to the city of Dhaka excluding the Old Dhaka region.
Golam Nafiz was a Bangladeshi student activist who died in the non-cooperation movement on 4 August 2024. He was laying on a rickshaw on the way of taking to the hospital. His image laying in the rickshaw made him one of the most discussed fatalities in the July Revolution.
