Adel Tankova [lower-alpha 1] (born 22 May 2000) is an Israeli Olympic figure skater. She competed for Israel at the 2018 Winter Olympics with Ronald Zilberberg in Figure Skating in ice dancing and a team event in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Early and personal life

Tankova was born in Dnipro (formerly known as Dnipropetrovsk), Ukraine, and is Jewish. [1] [2] Her hometown is Hackensack, New Jersey. [1]

Career

Tankova began skating in 2004. [3] Her former partner in pairs was Evgeni Krasnopolski. [1] Her current partner is Ronald Zilberberg, with whom she began competing in 2016. [1] [3] Her coach and choreographer is Galit Chait Moracci. [1]

In 2017/2018, the pair won the Israeli National Championship, and came in 28th in the ISU European Ice Dance Championship. [1]

Tankova and Zilberberg competed for Israel at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Figure Skating in ice dancing and a team event in Pyeongchang, South Korea. [4] They scored 46.66 in the short dance event for an overall finish of 24th place. [5]

The short program was held on 14 February and the free skating on 15 February 2018. Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot became Olympic champions after finishing fourth in the short program and setting a record with their score in the free program to take the gold by 0.43 points. Sui Wenjing and Han Cong, leading after the short program, made a couple of mistakes in the free program and won silver. Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford were third. This was the second Olympics since 1964 that a Soviet or Russian pair did not win a medal.

The team event was a figure skating competition of the 2018 Winter Olympics that was held from 9 to 12 February 2018 at the Gangneung Ice Arena in Gangneung, South Korea. It took place over three days between 9–12 February with the short programs and the short dance taking place on 9 and 11 February, and the free skates and the free dance taking place on 11 and 12 February.
