Hasan Güngör was a middleweight Turkish wrestler and a wrestling coach. He won a gold medal at the 1960 Olympics and a silver medal at the 1964 Olympics, as well as multiple medals at the World, European and Balkan championships. After retiring from competitions in 1967, Güngör worked for more than 20 years as a coach of the junior and senior national teams. Güngör was married and had three children. He lived in Denizli until his death.

Adil Belgaïd is a Moroccan judoka. He competed at the Summer Olympics in 1996, 2000, and 2004.

The United Arab Emirates participated at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, which were held from 8 to 24 August 2008. The country's participation at the Beijing Olympics marked its seventh appearance in the Summer Olympics since its début at the 1984 Summer Olympics. The delegation sent by the United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee consisted of eight athletes in seven sports: athletics, equestrian, judo, sailing, shooting, swimming and taekwondo. Two of the eight athletes were women, making Beijing the first time the country had sent female athletes to a Summer Olympiad, and most of their athletes qualified for the Games by using a wild card or receiving an invitation from the Tripartite Commission. The country did not win any medals at the Games; the best performance of the delegation was from sport shooter Ahmad Al-Makotum, who placed seventh in the qualification round of the men's double trap and lost a subsequent four-man shoot-out.

Roman Volodymyrovych Hontyuk, also spelled Roman Gontyuk, is an olympic medalist from Ukraine. He won a silver medal in the half-middleweight (‍–‍81 kg) division at the 2004 Summer Olympics and bronze medal in the half-middleweight (‍–‍81 kg) division at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Hontyuk is the Merited Master of Sports of Ukraine.

Adil Bellaz is a Moroccan former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. Bellaz qualified for the men's 200 m freestyle at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by clearing a FINA B-standard entry time of 1:54.08 from the Vittel Cup in Mulhouse, France. He challenged seven other swimmers in heat two, including dual citizen Mihail Alexandrov of Bulgaria. He raced to sixth place in a time of 1:55.79, more than a second off his entry time. Bellaz failed to advance into the semifinals, as he placed fifty-third overall in the preliminaries.

Adil Khalid Mohammad is an Emirati sailor, who specialized in the Laser class. Mohammad became the first and only Emirati sailor to represent his country at the Olympic Games, where he finished forty-second in his respective category at Beijing 2008.
