Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Adnan bin Buntar is a Brunei diplomat who became the high commissioner to India from 1994 to 1997,and ambassador to Japan from 2005 to 2008. He has held other major titles such as the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT),and former chairman of the Brunei Japan Friendship Association. [1]
In 1993,he was the Director-General,of ASEAN-Brunei Darussalam. [2] On 8 August 1994,at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi,Adnan,the High Commissioner-Designate of Brunei to India,presented his credentials to Shankar Dayal Sharma. [3] He was among the Brune delegation at the 50th anniversary of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. [4]
On 13 September 2002,Adnan,the newly appointed ambassador to Germany,presented his letters of credentials to Annemarie Huber-Hotz. [5]
At the Istana Nurul Iman on 11 August 2005,Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah gave Adnan letters of credentials. [6] During his tenure as Ambassador from 2005 to 2008,he played a pivotal role in fostering friendship between Brunei Darussalam and Japan. 2006 saw Princess Masna Bolkiah,the MOFAT's Ambassador-at-Large,visit Japan,while 2007 saw the Sultan. In 2005,Adnan established a communication channel between Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Kagawa University,which helped the two institutions to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in 2006. [1]
In his last year as ambassador,he saw the realisation of the economic alliance between Brunei and Japan. In the same year,Japan and Brunei inked an agreement to prohibit double taxation and combat fiscal evasion with regard to income taxes. This agreement laid the groundwork for future efforts to advance economic ties between the two nations. [1]
After retirement,he remained actively involved in promoting bilateral ties through the Brunei Japan Friendship Association (BJFA),where he currently serves as Adviser I. [7]
Adnan is married to Pengiran Datin Hajah Yura Alaiti, [8] [9] and Yusuf Abdul Rahim is his father-in-law. [10]
The 2018 Spring Imperial Decorations awardees have been revealed by the Japanese government,and Adnan has been recognised for his noteworthy efforts to fostering goodwill and understanding between Brunei and Japan. He's awarded the Order of the Rising Sun 2nd Class for his achievements. [7] He has earned the following honours;
Mohamed Bolkiah ibni Omar Ali Saifuddien III is a member of the royal family of Brunei. He is the second son of Omar Ali Saifuddien III,the 28th Sultan of Brunei,and Raja Isteri (Queen) Pengiran Anak Damit. He is the Head of the Brunei’s Viziers. After Brunei’s independence in 1984,he became the country’s first foreign minister,serving from 1 January 1984 until 22 October 2015. He served in the cabinet as the Minister of the Brunei's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade alongside the second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade,Lim Jock Seng.
Universiti Brunei Darussalam is a national research university located in Bandar Seri Begawan,Brunei. It was established in 1985 and has since become the largest university in the country in terms of student enrollment and curriculum offered.
Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque,is a mosque in Kampong Kiarong of Bandar Seri Begawan,Brunei. It is named after Hassanal Bolkiah,the 29th and current Sultan of Brunei. It is one of the two state mosques,the other Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque.
Pengiran Muhammad Yusuf bin Pengiran Abdul Rahim CBE,pen name Yura Halim,was a Bruneian nobleman,politician,civil servant,diplomat,and writer. He served as the Chief Minister of Brunei from 1967 to 1972. He wrote the lyrics for Brunei's national anthem,"Allah Peliharakan Sultan," in 1947. The song was adopted as the country's official national anthem in 1951,when it was still a British protectorate. He was longtime member of the Legislative Council of Brunei,serving on the council until his death in 2016.

Abdul Mutalib bin Mohammad Yusof,also referred to as Dato Abdul Mutalib Yusof,is a politician in the Government of Brunei. He took office as the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications from 2018 to 2022. Additionally,Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah gave his approval for his appointment as the Minister in Charge of Cybersecurity on 17 October 2018.
Pengiran Anak Puteh,also referred to as Pengiran Puteh Alam,is a nobleman,diplomat and politician in the Government of Brunei whole formerly took office as the Ambassador of Brunei to the United States from 1997 to 2009,and Japan in 1986. Additionally,he was a member of the Islamic Religious Council,director of several Bruneian banks and the President of the Brunei Scouts from 1974 to 1979.
