Aisling Dolan (born 1975/1976) [2] is an Irish Fine Gael politician who has served as a Senator since June 2020,after being nominated by the Taoiseach. [3] [4]
Dolan was elected to Galway County Council as an independent candidate at the 2019 local elections. [5] She joined Fine Gael in November 2019. [6]
Dolan was an unsuccessful Fine Gael candidate in the 2020 general election for the Roscommon–Galway constituency. [2] She was appointed to Seanad Éireann in June 2020. [4] [2] Evelyn Francis Parsons was co-opted to Dolan's seat on Galway County Council following her nomination to the Seanad.
In October 2024,Dolan was chosen by Fine Gael to contest the 2024 general election for Roscommon–Galway. [7]
Born in Pollboy,Ballinasloe,Dolan attended Ardscoil Mhuire and NUI Galway and received a postgraduate diploma in Applied Languages for Business. [1] Dolan worked in Dublin for Enterprise Ireland and Science Foundation Ireland,supporting Irish businesses and funding excellence in research. [6]

The 26th Seanad has been in office since June 2020. The 2020 Seanad election followed the 2020 general election to the 33rd Dáil on 8 February. The Constitution of Ireland required a general election for Seanad Éireann,the senate of the Oireachtas,to take place no later than ninety days after the dissolution of the 32nd Dáil on 14 January 2020. There are 60 seats in the Seanad:43 were elected on five vocational panels by serving politicians,for which polling closed on 30 March 2020;6 were elected in two university constituencies,for which polling closed on 31 March 2020;and 11 were nominated by the Taoiseach on 27 June 2020. It will remain in office until the close of poll for the 27th Seanad.
An indirect election to the 26th Seanad took place after the 2020 Irish general election,with postal ballots due on 30 and 31 March. Seanad Éireann is the upper house of the Oireachtas,with Dáil Éireann as the lower house of representatives. The election was held for 49 of the 60 seats in the Seanad:43 are elected for five vocational panels,and six are elected in two university constituencies. The remaining 11 senators are nominated by the newly elected Taoiseach when the Dáil reconvenes after the general election.
