Alain raymondi is a species of crab in the Pinnotheridae family. [1] It was first described in 2008 by Ahyong and Peter Ng. [1] [2] The species epithet, raymondi, honours Ray Manning. [3]
Currently it is known only from the Philippines, where it is found at depths of 453– 787 m. [4]
Portunus is a genus of crab which includes several important species for fisheries, such as the blue swimming crab, Portunus pelagicus and the Gazami crab, P. trituberculatus. Other species, such as the three-spotted crab (P. sanguinolentus) are caught as bycatch.
Portunidae is a family of crabs which contains the swimming crabs.
Hymenosomatidae is a family of crabs with some 110 described species in nearly 20 genera. The following genera are placed in the Hymenosomatidae:
The thumbnail crab, Thia scutellata, is a species of decapods, in the family of thiidae, whose carapace resembles a human thumbnail, a dense fringe of long hairs distinctly notched around the edge. Pale pink in colour with red to brown markings. It is found in the North Sea, north-east Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. It is the only extant species in the genus Thia, although two fossil species are known. Their predators includes the atlantic cod.
Goneplacidae is a family of crabs of the order Decapoda and the superfamily Goneplacoidea. It includes the following genera:
Goneplacoidea is a superfamily of crabs containing 11 extant families, and two families known only from fossils.
Vultocinus anfractus is a species of crab, the only species in the family Vultocinidae. It has been found around the Philippines, Vanuatu and New Caledonia, and lives on driftwood. Its discovery forced a reappraisal of the relationships within the superfamily Goneplacoidea, and to the recognition of Mathildellidae, Conleyidae and Progeryonidae as separate families.
Pseudozioidea is a superfamily of crabs, formerly treated in the Eriphioidea, Carpilioidea, Xanthoidea, Pilumnoidea and Goneplacoidea. A number of fossils from the Eocene onwards are known from the family Pseudoziidae. Eleven genera are recognised in three families:
Nanogalathea raymondi is a species of squat lobster from the Bay of Bengal. It is the only species in the genus Nanogalathea. It can be distinguished from other squat lobsters by the lack of any teeth along the edge of the rostrum. The specific epithet raymondi commemorates the carcinologist Raymond B. Manning.
Raymond Brendan Manning was an American carcinologist, specialising in alpha taxonomy and mantis shrimp.
Trapeziidae is a family of crabs, commonly known as coral crabs. All the species in the family are found in a close symbiosis with cnidarians. They are found across the Indo-Pacific, and can best be identified to the species level by the colour patterns they display. Members of the family Tetraliidae were previously included in the Trapeziidae, but the similarities between the taxa is the result of convergent evolution.
Karstarma is a genus of karst-dwelling crabs formerly included in Sesarmoides.
Leucosiidae is a family of crabs containing three subfamilies and a number of genera incertae sedis:
Euryxanthops is a genus of crabs in the family Xanthidae. It was originally established in 1983 by Garth & Kim to contain three species of deep-water crabs from Japan and the Philippines - Euryxanthops dorsiconvexus, Euryxanthops flexidentatus and Euryxanthops orientalis. Since then, several more species of this genus have been identified and described, and Euryxanthops currently contains:
Pilumnoididae is a family of crabs containing the genera Pilumnoides, with several species, and the monotypic Setozius.
Mesothyatira is a monotypic moth genus in the family Drepanidae described by Werny in 1966. Its only species, Mesothyatira simplificata, was described by Constant Vincent Houlbert in 1921. It is found in the Chinese provinces of Shaanxi, Sichuan and Yunnan.
Nanhaipotamon is a genus of freshwater crabs, in the subfamily Potamiscinae, found in southern China and Taiwan. As of 2018, 18 species have been described. The genus is named after the South China Sea, for it occurs mostly in coastal areas. The genus was first described by R. Bott in 1968 as Isolapotamon (Nanhaipotamon), i.e., a subgenus of Isolapotamon.
Alain is a genus of crabs belonging to the family Pinnotheridae, and was first described in 1998 by Raymond Manning. The type species of this genus was collected in Indonesian territorial waters.
Betta nuluhon is a species of gourami. It is native to Asia, where it occurs in western Sabah on the island of Borneo in Malaysia. The species reaches at least 7.06 cm in standard length. It was described in 2020 by N. S. S. Kamal, H. H. Tan, and Casey K. C. Ng. FishBase does not list this species.
Alima neptuni is a species of shrimp in the Squillidae family, and was first described in 1768 by Carl Linnaeus as Cancer neptuni.
