College career

Austin played at Oregon State for four years and put up 141 tackles, two going for a loss, a sack, four interceptions, 20 pass deflections, three fumble recoveries, and a touchdown. [4]

NFL career

His career started when the Buffalo Bills drafted Austin with the 252nd pick in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Shortly after, the Bills released Austin before getting signed to the Houston Texans practice squad. With some concerns in Austin’s play, the Texans released him. The New England Patriots jumped on the deal, and signed Alex Austin to their practice squad. Austin remained there until he was signed to the active roster of the New England Patriots. After being signed from the practice squad, Austin would appear in several games to patch a hole in a depleted and injured secondary group. Austin’s most memorable stat was an interception that came in week 17 against his former team, the Buffalo Bills.
