Andrea Carroll is an American soprano who has had an active international career in concerts and operas since 2012. A finalist in the 2015 Operalia, The World Opera Competition, she is particularly known for her performances with the Houston Grand Opera and the Vienna State Opera.
A graduate of Walt Whitman High School and the Manhattan School of Music (MSM), Carroll grew up in Bethesda, Maryland. She performed in several operas while a student at the MSM, including the Wife in Schubert's Die Verschworenen and Despina in Così fan tutte . [1] [2] She also studied voice with Phyllis Curtin and Stephanie Blythe at the Tanglewood Music Center. She then served in the Young Artist Program at the Glimmerglass Opera and for two years as a member of the Young Artist Program at the Houston Grand Opera (HGO) before becoming a resident artist at the Vienna State Opera (VSO). [3] [4] At the VSO she has appeared as Zerlina in Don Giovanni (2015-2016) and the title heroine in Johanna Doderer’s Fatima oder Von den Mutigen Kindern (2015-2016) among other roles. [3]
In 2012 Carroll made debuts with several American companies, including the HGO as Musetta in La boheme , the Fort Worth Opera as Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro , and her debut at the Wolf Trap Opera as Zerlina. [5] [6] She returned to Wolf Trap in 2013 to perform the role of Corrina in Il viaggio a Reims and returned to the HGO to perform the roles of Adele in Die Fledermaus and The Plaintiff in Gilbert and Sullivan's Trial by Jury . [7] [5] That same year she made her debut at the Utah Opera as Rosalba in Florencia en el Amazonas and was a featured soloist in a program of winter and holiday music with the Houston Symphony. In 2014 Carroll performed four roles at the HGO: Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto , Adele, Anne Engerman in A Little Night Music , and Woglinde in Das Rheingold . [9] [10] Also that year she portrayed Rosalba at the Washington National Opera, Julie Jordan in Carousel at the Glimmerglass Opera, Gilda in Rigoletto at Opera Santa Barbara, and the Princess in Xavier Montsalvatge's El Gato con Botas at the Gotham Chamber Opera. [11] [12] [13] [14] In 2015 she was a finalist in the Operalia, The World Opera Competition, made her debut at the Seattle Opera as Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos , performed Adina in L'elisir d'amore with the Finger Lakes Opera, and returned to the Utah Opera as Leila in Bizet's Les pêcheurs de perles before assuming her post in Vienna. In 2016 Carroll returned to the Vienna State Opera as Waldvogel in Siegfried , Woglinde in Götterdämmerung , and Papagena in The Magic Flute . Later this year she is scheduled to perform the role of Julie Jordan at the HGO and to create the role of Mary Hatch Bailey in the world premiere of Jake Heggie's It's a Wonderful Life . [19]

Andrea Rost is a Hungarian lyric soprano. She has performed in leading roles with the Vienna State Opera, La Scala, the Royal Opera House, Opéra National de Paris, the Metropolitan Opera and the Salzburg Festival. The year 1997 saw the release of her first solo recording, Le delizie dell’amor, featuring arias from bel canto, Verdi and Puccini operas.
Arturo Chacón Cruz is a Mexican American operatic tenor. A winner of the Operalia competition in 2005, he went on to sing leading roles at many North American opera theatres, including Los Angeles Opera, Washington National Opera, San Francisco Opera, Carnegie Hall, and Houston Grand Opera. He has also appeared in many European opera houses, including the Teatro Real in Madrid, La Fenice in Venice, Bolshoi Theatre, Arena di Verona, Teatro alla Scala, the Theater an der Wien in Vienna and the Berlin State Opera.
Margaret Lloyd is an American soprano who is particularly known for her performances in contemporary operas and concert works. She has sung in the world premieres of several operas, most notably portraying the role of Lightfoot McClendon in the premiere of Carlisle Floyd's Cold Sassy Tree at the Houston Grand Opera in 2000. She has also sung in the world premieres of several works by composer Michael Torke.

Jihoon Kim is a South Korean operatic bass and a Principal of The Royal Opera in the United Kingdom. He was a member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme 2011–13 and a Jette Parker Principal in the 2013/14 Season, appointed to his current position with The Royal Opera at the start of the 2014/15 Season. In the 2014/15 Season he sings Count Ceprano (Rigoletto), Tom and Marquis d'Obigny for the Company.
Aida Emilevna Garifullina is a Russian lyric soprano of Tatar descent. She was the winner of the 2013 Operalia competition and has featured in a number of productions staged at the Mariinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg and the Vienna State Opera. She has a recording contract with Decca Records.
Tamara Wilson is an American operatic soprano who has had an active international opera career since 2007. She has performed leading roles at the Canadian Opera Company, the English National Opera, the Houston Grand Opera, the Liceu, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Sydney Opera House among others. She is particularly known for her performances of heroines in the operas of Giuseppe Verdi. In 2016 she was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Opera and was awarded the Richard Tucker Award, an award described by Opera News as "one of the most prestigious prizes in opera".

Heidi Stober is an American operatic soprano who has performed leading roles in major opera houses internationally, including the Dutch National Opera, the Garsington Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Metropolitan Opera, the Municipal Theatre of Santiago, the Semperoper, and the Vienna State Opera. She has been particularly active with the Houston Grand Opera where she has performed in more than a dozen operas since 2004, including the world premieres of Daniel Catán's Salsipuedes: a Tale of Love, War and Anchovies (2004), Mark Adamo's Lysistrata (2005), and Ricky Ian Gordon's The House without a Christmas Tree (2017). She has also performed in more than ten operas with the San Francisco Opera since 2010. Since 2008 she has been a resident artist at the Deutsche Oper Berlin where she has primarily performed roles from the lyric soprano repertoire. Also active as a concert soprano on the international stage, she has performed with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Houston Symphony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, and the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest among other orchestras. She is particularly admired for her interpretations of the works of George Frideric Handel and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Rosl Schwaiger was an Austrian operatic coloratura soprano. She was a member of the Vienna State Opera and the Bayerische Staatsoper, known for singing Mozart roles such as Blonde, Susanna and Zerlina. She appeared at European opera houses and festivals and was especially popular at the Salzburg Festival, where she appeared for decades in opera and sacred concerts.
Margarita Vitalievna Gritskova is a Russian mezzo-soprano in opera and lied singing. A member of the Vienna State Opera since 2012, she is focused on roles by Rossini such as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia and La Cenerentola, but has also performed in Baroque opera and contemporary works such as Tri sestri by Péter Eötvös.
Emily Pogorelc is an American operatic soprano. She is a member of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, and has performed leading roles internationally.
