Aniventure is a British content creation and intellectual property company based in London and set up in 2013 to produce family-oriented feature animation.[ failed verification ] [1]

Aniventure works with production partners to take feature film concepts from pitch development through to completion. It has a first-look service deal with VFX and animation service studio Cinesite.

Film projects

Under its former name Comic Animations,[ failed verification ] the company's first release was the award-winning [2] animated viral Beans in December 2013, co-produced with Cinesite, which amassed over 15 million views on YouTube. [3] They then signed a deal with 3QU Media in 2014 to produce four films for Vanguard Animation, cultivating in Charming , Gnome Alone , Trouble , and Fearless . [4]

In February 2016 it was announced that Comic Animations[ failed verification ] was in development on an animated feature adaptation of the stage production Riverdance , in association with River Productions and Cinesite. [5]

The following year it was reported that they had entered into a partnership with the Harold Lloyd estate to adapt Harold Lloyd based animated content. [6]

In 2019 Klaus , the traditionally animated Christmas adventure written and directed by Sergio Pablos, was released. [7] Produced by his company SPA Studios in partnership with Atresmedia Cine and Aniventure, the film was distributed by Netflix. Klaus won seven awards at the 47th Annie Awards, including Best Animated Feature, and also Best Animated Film at the 73rd British Academy Film Awards. It was the first animated film from Netflix to be nominated for an Academy Award. [8] That year, Comic Animations changed its name to Aniventure.[ citation needed ] Riverdance: The Animated Adventure would be the first film to be released under the Aniventure label.[ citation needed ]

In November 2019 Aniventure's association with Blazing Samurai, to be later renamed Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank , was announced (reported to be loosely inspired by the Mel Brooks film Blazing Saddles ). A collaboration between Aniventure and GFM Animation, the news came on the first day of the American Film Market in 2019 that the project was fully-funded and moving into production at Cinesite. [9]

In October 2020, Aniventure revealed the voice cast of its upcoming animated film Hitpig, with Peter Dinklage and Lilly Singh in the leading roles. The film is based on Berkeley Breathed's picture book Pete and Pickles. [10]

Peter Lepeniotis is a Canadian animator, film director, screenwriter and producer. He is best known for his 2005 animated short Surly Squirrel. He adapted the short into the full-length feature film, The Nut Job, which Lepeniotis co-wrote and directed. It was released in 2014 by Open Road Films and The Weinstein Company. Due to the film's success at the box office, Lepeniotis and the team at ToonBox Entertainment greenlit a sequel, The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature, which was released in 2017.

Charming is a 2018 American animated musical comedy film written and directed by Ross Venokur. Produced by Vanguard Animation, 3QU Media, Cinesite and WV Enterprises, the film features the voices of Demi Lovato, Wilmer Valderrama, Sia, Ashley Tisdale, G.E.M. and Avril Lavigne. Lovato is responsible for the executive production of the soundtrack, with Sia, Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump, and Steve Aoki contributing songs. The film had its world premiere in Spain on 20 April 2018, and was met with generally negative reviews. Streaming service Netflix acquired the distribution rights to the film in the United States, and it was released on the platform on 8 January 2021.

<i>Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank</i> 2022 animated film

Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank is a 2022 animated martial arts comedy film directed by Rob Minkoff, Mark Koetsier and Chris Bailey. A loose remake of the 1974 live-action film Blazing Saddles, it features the voices of Michael Cera, Ricky Gervais, Mel Brooks, George Takei, Aasif Mandvi, Gabriel Iglesias, Djimon Hounsou, Michelle Yeoh and Samuel L. Jackson. The film takes place in a world of anthropomorphic animals, in which a dog named Hank learns to become a samurai to save a cat village from a conniving landlord.

It is the third TV series in the Kung Fu Panda franchise, following Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny. Produced by DreamWorks Animation Television, the series premiered on Netflix on July 14, 2022. A second season was released on January 12, 2023. A third and final season was released on September 7, 2023.
