Ann M. Williams (born 1968) is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives who has represented the 11th District since 2011. [1] The district includes the Chicago neighborhoods of West Lakeview,Roscoe Village and North Center,as well as parts of Lincoln Park and Lincoln Square.
Williams received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Iowa in 1992 and a Juris Doctor from Drake University in 1994. [1] [2] As an attorney,she served as Assistant Attorney General in the office of Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan. [3]
Williams was elected to her first term as state representative of Illinois' 11th District in 2010 to replace John Fritchey who chose to run for a seat on the Cook County Board of Commissioners. Williams was supported by both of Chicago's major newspapers. The Chicago Tribune noted in its endorsement that "It's good to see that she believes party leaders shouldn't be exempt from the new campaign contribution caps imposed on everyone else." [4] The Chicago Sun-Times called her "bright and conscientious" and noted her work for Attorney General Lisa Madigan and as a staff attorney for the state House. [5] Williams focused her campaign on protecting women and children from sex offenders,fighting for greater access to affordable healthcare,and making government open and accountable to the people. [6] Her Committee assignments include Judiciary I - Civil Law;Consumer Protection;Adoption Reform;Business Occupational Licenses;Environmental Health;and Government Operations Subcommittee. [1]
Williams won reelection to a second term in 2012. She ran unopposed in the March 20 Democratic primary and was unopposed in the general election,which took place on November 6,2012. [7] [8] [9] Williams was re-elected to a third term in November 2014. [10]
In 2018,J. B. Pritzker appointed Williams to Powering Illinois’Future transition committee,which is responsible for infrastructure and clean energy policies. [11]
Williams is pro-choice and favors the legalization of same-sex marriage. [12] She was a co-sponsor of the bill legalizing same-sex marriage in Illinois. [13] Williams was the only Chicago lawmaker in the Illinois House to vote against a bill supported by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel allowing speed-detection cameras near schools and parks throughout the city. [14]

John Alden Fritchey IV is a former Democratic Cook County Commissioner of the Cook County Board of Commissioners who represented the 12th district in Chicago from 2010 until 2018 and was a Democratic State Representative in the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 11th District in Chicago from 1997 to 2010. He additionally served as the elected Democratic Committeeman for Chicago's 32nd Ward from 2008 to 2012. According to the Arab-American Institute, Fritchey was one of the longest-serving Arab-American officials in the United States. He is presently President of F4 Consulting, Ltd. In 1998, he created the John Fritchey Youth Foundation, designed to create educational and recreational opportunities for local children through the sponsorship of academic and sports programs. He has additionally supported the Chicago Special Olympics as a repeated participant in the annual Polar Plunge. He presently serves on the Board of Directors of Chicago Gateway Green, a non-profit, public-private partnership dedicated to the greening and beautification of Chicago's expressways, gateways and neighborhoods through landscape enhancement, litter and graffiti removal and the installation of public art.
Robin Lynne Kelly is an American politician from Illinois who has served as the U.S. representative from Illinois's 2nd congressional district since 2013. A Democrat, Kelly served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007. She then served as chief of staff for Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias until 2010. She was the 2010 Democratic nominee for state treasurer, but lost the general election. Before running for Congress, Kelly served as the Cook County chief administrative officer. After winning the Democratic primary, she won the 2013 special election to succeed Jesse Jackson Jr. in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Gregory S. Harris is an American politician who served as a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives in the 13th district from 2007 to 2023. He sponsored the Acts which legalized civil unions and same sex marriage in Illinois and rose to become House Majority Leader in 2019. Harris retired as Leader, not seeking reelection to the House in 2022.

Kelly Cassidy is an American politician from Chicago. She is a Democrat and a member of the Illinois House of Representatives. She was appointed to represent the 14th district, on Chicago's North Side, in April 2011 following incumbent Harry Osterman's election to the Chicago City Council. She took office on May 16, 2011. Most notably Kelly Cassidy was the chief sponsor of House Bill 1438, making Illinois the first state to legalize the Adult-Use of Cannabis through legislature as opposed to a ballot measure.
Thaddeus Jones is an American politician, currently serving as both the Illinois state representative for the 29th district and as the mayor of Calumet City, Illinois. Marcus C. Evans Jr. is an American politician currently serving as Illinois state representative for the 33rd district. A couple issues that always come up—unfortunately, even those it's 2011—are things like [abortion] choice and civil unions. Those are a priority for a lot of us in this region. I wasn't there to take the vote for civil unions. [Voting occurred before Williams took office.] It would've been a real highlight and privilege to get to vote for that, but I hope to be around for the vote that will provide full marriage equality. I hope that comes sooner rather than later for the families in my community.
