The Ap Lei Chau Power Station was an oil-fired power station in Ap Lei Chau,Hong Kong.
The power station was commissioned in 1968 and was the largest power station in British Hong Kong at that time. The power station was decommissioned starting in 1984 and eventually closed in 1989. [1] Its generators were then moved to Lamma Power Station. The area around the power station is now surrounded by the South Horizons residential area. [2]
The power station provided electricity to the western area of Hong Kong.

Ap Lei Chau or Aberdeen Island is an island of Hong Kong,located off Hong Kong Island next to Aberdeen Harbour and Aberdeen Channel. It has an area of 1.30 square kilometres (0.50 sq mi). Administratively,it is part of the Southern District. The South Island line,identified by light green on the MTR route map,is a rapid transit line of Hong Kong's MTR metro system. This line connects the HK business district from Admiralty station to the Southern District of Hong Kong Island and the island of Ap Lei Chau,which was not served by any rail transport prior to the opening of this line. The rolling stock of South Island line is purpose-built for driverless operation. Trains are remotely controlled from the Operations Control Centre in Tsing Yi. Approved by the Executive Council in 2007,the line commenced service on 28 December 2016.

City Garden is a private housing estate in North Point,Hong Kong. It was built from 1983 to 1986 by Cheung Kong Holdings Limited. It consists of 14 blocks,each 28 storeys tall. Part of the site was occupied by the North Point Power Station before 1983.
South Horizons is a private housing estate located in Aberdeen,Hong Kong at the western end of Ap Lei Chau,in the Southern District of Hong Kong. Developed by Secan Limited,a Hutchison Whampoa associate company,it consists of 34 blocks,ranging in height from 25 to 42 storeys,completed between 1993 and 1995. Census data indicated that South Horizons had a population of 31,496 in 2011 and was the most populated among the private and public estates of the district.
Lei Tung is an underground MTR rapid transit station in Hong Kong on the eastern section of the South Island line,located beside Mount Johnston on Ap Lei Chau in Southern District. The station is named after the adjacent public housing estate of the same name,which it serves in addition to Ap Lei Chau Main Street. The station is located below Yue On Court and Lei Tung Estate,and opened on 28 December 2016 with the rest of the South Island line. It is the southernmost railway station in Hong Kong.
South Horizons is an underground MTR rapid transit station in Hong Kong,located on Ap Lei Chau in Southern District. It is the southern terminus of the South Island line. The station is located under the junction of Yi Nam Road and South Horizon Drive,and primarily serves residents of the South Horizons private housing estate,in addition to Ap Lei Chau Estate and Ap Lei Chau West Industrial Area. The station has a unique shape in the form of a letter Y,and has no overrun track. It opened on 28 December 2016 with the rest of the South Island line.
Ap Lei Chau Estate is a public housing estate in Ap Lei Chau,Hong Kong Island,Hong Kong. It is the first public housing estate in Ap Lei Chau. Completed in two phases in 1980 and 1982 respectively,the estate consists of 8 residential blocks providing 4,453 flats. It was one of the public housing estates built from 1980 to 1982 to accommodate people affected by a major fire in Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter.

The Aberdeen Typhoon Shelters of Hong Kong are Aberdeen West Typhoon Shelter and Aberdeen South Typhoon Shelter (香港仔南避風塘). Both typhoon shelters are located in Southern District,between the southern part of Hong Kong Island and the island Ap Lei Chau. They are roughly separated by the Ap Lei Chau Bridge and Aberdeen Channel Bridge. The Aberdeen floating village is located within the shelters.
