The 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup was the eighth Cricket World Cup, organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It was co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya from 9 February to 23 March 2003. This edition of the World Cup was the first to be played in Africa.

Brendan Ross Murray Taylor is a Zimbabwean former international cricketer and a former Zimbabwean captain, who played all formats of the game. Taylor is a right-handed batsman but is also an off spinner. In 2015, former Zimbabwe captain Alistair Campbell described Taylor as "our standout player for the last seven or eight years". He is known for his unorthodox shots especially his ability to play upper cuts over the third man and ramp shots with elegance and are often considered as his trademark signature shots. Mushfiqur Rahim is a Bangladeshi cricketer and the former captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team. He is a right-handed middle-order batsman and wicket-keeper in the national team.
Sunil Dhaniram is a former Canadian cricketer and a former captain of the national team, who played ODIs and T20Is. He formerly played for Guyana from 1993 to 1995. He played for Scotland in the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka, and has since played first-class, One Day International, and List A cricket for Scotland. Luke Ronchi is a New Zealand-Australian cricket coach and a former cricketer. He represented both the Australia national cricket team and New Zealand national cricket team in international cricket. Ronchi is the only player to have played for both Australia and New Zealand in cricketing history. He was also a part of the New Zealand squad to finish as runners-up at the 2015 Cricket World Cup. Shikhar Dhawan is an Indian cricketer. A left-handed opening batsman, he captains Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League and plays for Delhi in first-class cricket. In May 2022, Pooran was named as the captain of the West Indies team for limited overs cricket. In November 2022, he stepped down as the limited overs captain of the West Indies team.
Weerahandige Inol Avishka Fernando, commonly as Avishka Fernando, is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer, who currently plays limited over internationals for Sri Lanka national team. He plays for Colts Cricket Club in domestic cricket, and he made his international debut for the Sri Lanka cricket team in August 2016. He had his education in St. Sebastian's College, Moratuwa.
Ibrahim Zadran is an Afghan cricketer. He made his Test match debut for the Afghanistan cricket team in September 2019.
