This constituency includes Aska, Aska block and 12 GPs (Subalaya, Kaniari, Barida, Paikajamuna, Sunapalli, Sialia, Nandiagada, Borasingi, Ambapua, Baliasara, Bolasara and Sunarijhola) of Kabisuryanagar block. [2] [3]

Asika or Aska is a town and a Notified Area Council in Ganjam district in the state of Odisha, India. Fondly known as the sugar city of India. Asika is the 3rd largest city in district of Ganjam after Berhampur and Bhanjanagar. Asika is a major commercial and transportation hub of Ganjam district. It is situated between river Badanadi and holy river Rushikuliya.
Harihar Swain was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Aska constituency of Odisha on a Biju Janata Dal ticket. He was expelled from the Biju Janata Dal after voting against the party whip. It was alleged that he had taken a bribe to vote against his own party. He was suffering from multiple ailments and died on 13 October 2012.
