Astalaxmi Shakya was sworn in as Minority Chief Minister of Bagmati Province on 18 August 2021. [3] After the split of CPN(UML), she's been working on Interim capacity while opposition has claimed majority. Astalaxmi Shakya is a Nepalese politician and former Chief Minister of Bagmati Province. She is first woman chief minister of Nepal. Governor Bishnu Prasad Prasain appointed Shakya as the chief minister as per Article 168 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal after she was unanimously elected parliamentary party leader of the CPN (UML) on 18 August 2021, following the resignation of outgoing chief minister Dormani Poudel, as both the parliamentary party leader and chief minister. On 9th March 2023 she was chosen as a candidate in the 2023 Nepalese vice presidential election from Communist Party of Nepal (UML).

The chief minister of the Bagmati Province is the head of government of Bagmati Province. The chief minister is appointed by the governor of the province according to Article 167 of the Constitution of Nepal. The chief minister remains in office for five years or until the provincial assembly is dissolved, and is subject to no term limits, given that they have the confidence of the assembly.

Municipal election for Kathmandu took place on 13 May 2022, with all 162 positions up for election across 32 wards. The electorate elected a mayor, a deputy mayor, 32 ward chairs and 128 ward members. An indirect election will also be held to elect five female members and an additional three female members from the Dalit and minority community to the municipal executive.

Keshav Sthapit is a former mayor of Kathmandu metropolitan city. He also held the position of minister in Bagmati Pradesh and is a former member of the province's Assembly. Keshav Sthapit was elected as the mayor of Kathmandu in 1997. After the royal takeover in 2005, he was appointed the Mayor of Kathmandu by the Monarch. In year 2005 he was top finalist for world best mayor. After the return of democracy, he was appointed as a Commissioner of Kathmandu Valley Development Authority after joining Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) but was removed from the post after only nine months. He was a candidate for Member of Parliament from Kathmandu 6 in 2017, but came in fifth place under the ticket of Federal Socialist Party. He returned to CPN-UML and became a Provincial Minister but was sacked by Chief Minister Dormani Poudel after misbehaving during cabinet meetings. There have been multiple allegations of sexual assault against Sthapit.

Sita Kumari Nepali is a Nepalese politician and Minister for Internal Affairs, Law and Sports of Karnali Province. She is a member of Provincial Assembly of Karnali Province belonging to the CPN. Nepali, a resident of Lekbeshi, was elected under the proportional representation (PR) category for Dalit. In 2020, she was appointed as the chief whip of the party’s provincial committee by the former Chief minister, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi of Karnali Province. She is also the spokesperson for the Karnali provincial government. In 2021, she announced that the provincial government has decided to establish mass communications academy.

The first Bagmati Provincial Assembly was elected by the 2017 provincial elections. 110 members were elected to the assembly, 66 of whom were elected through direct elections and 44 of whom were elected through the party list proportional representation system. The term of the assembly started on 1 February 2018 and ended in September 2022. Dormani Poudel and Astalaxmi Shakya served as the chief ministers from the CPN (UML) and Rajendra Prasad Pandey served as chief minister from CPN during the term of the assembly. Sanu Kumar Shrestha served as the speaker of the assembly and Radhika Tamang served as the deputy speaker.

The Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary cabinet is the 4th cabinet of Lumbini Province. It was formed after previous Chief minister, Lila Giri failed to win vote of confidence.

The Kedar Karki cabinet is the current provincial government of Koshi Province. It was formed after Kedar Karki was sworn in as Chief Minister of Koshi Province on 15 October 2023.
