Kul Prasad KC was sworn in as Chief Minister of Lumbini Province on 12 August 2021. [1] He became second chief minister of Lumbini after Shankar Pokharel resigned reaching minority. [2]

Nepali Congress, the second largest party in assembly, played vital role in government formation. There has been power sharing understanding as per which CPN(Maoist Centre) will handover government leadership to Nepali Congress in few months. [3]

He has previously served as Minister for Tourism, Rural and Urban Development of Lumbini Province and as Minister of state for Labour and Employment in central government.

Shankar Pokharel resigned on 11 August 2021.

Kul Prasad KC is a Nepalese politician and former Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, a province in western Nepal. He was unanimously selected Parliamentary Party leader of CPN(Maoist-centre) for Lumbini Province in 2018. KC was elected from Rolpa 1(A) to provincial Assembly of Lumbini province.

The chief minister of the Lumbini Province is the head of government of Lumbini Province. The chief minister is appointed by the governor of the province according to Article 167 of the Constitution of Nepal. The chief minister remains in office for five years or until the provincial assembly is dissolved, and is subject to no term limits, given that they have the confidence of the assembly.

The 2021 split in the People's Socialist Party, Nepal (PSP-N) was a factional dispute amongst the leadership over party control beginning in May and culminating in July, with the faction led by former Deputy Prime Minister Upendra Yadav succeeding over the faction of former First Chairman Mahantha Thakur. The dispute was settled as a result of a decision of the Election Commission, which handed control to Yadav's faction, forcing the departure of the Thakur faction from the PSP-N and requiring the formation of a new party.

The Second Federal Parliament of Nepal, was elected by the 2022 general elections on 20 November 2022. The elections elected 275 Members of Parliament (MPs), 165 for each constituency and 110 through the party list, to the House of Representatives. The parliament convened for the first time on 9 January 2023.

The second Lumbini Provincial Assembly was elected by the 2022 provincial elections on 20 November 2022. 87 members were elected to the assembly, 52 of whom were elected through direct elections and 35 of whom were elected through the party list proportional representation system. The first session of the assembly commenced from 2 January 2023.

The Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary cabinet is the 4th cabinet of Lumbini Province. It was formed after previous Chief minister, Lila Giri failed to win vote of confidence.
