The unification was completed by the Party Unification Coordination Committee, after eight months of negotiation. The two predecessor parties subsequently dissolved, making way for the new united party. The party retained the electoral symbol of the CPN (UML), the sun.

Bagmati Province is one of the seven provinces of Nepal established by the constitution of Nepal. Bagmati is Nepal's second-most populous province and fifth largest province by area. It is bordered by Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the north, Gandaki Province to the west, Koshi Province to the east, Madhesh Province and the Indian state of Bihar to the south. With Hetauda as its provincial headquarters, the province is also the home to the country's capital Kathmandu, is mostly hilly and mountainous, and hosts mountain peaks including Gaurishankar, Langtang, Jugal, and Ganesh.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Oli cabinet, 2018</span>

The Oli cabinet, 2018 was the Government of Nepal from 15 February 2018 to 13 July 2021. It was initially formed as a majority coalition on 15 February 2018, after Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli was elected as the new Prime Minister of Nepal following the 2017 general election. Oli's candidacy was supported by the Communist Party of Nepal and the Communist Party of Nepal. He assumed his office along with two ministers with the remaining ministers added at later points. The CPN withdrew its support from the government in May 2021, reducing it to a minority, and after the dissolution of the House of Representatives, it turned into an interim government. The Oli cabinet, 2018 was replaced by the fifth Deuba cabinet, formed after the Supreme Court ordered the appointment of Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba as prime minister under in accordance with Article 76 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal.

Dormani Poudel is a Nepali politician and former chief minister of Bagmati Province. He was in office from 12 February 2018 to 18 August 2021. Poudel was elected parliamentary party leader of the CPN (UML), the largest party in the provincial assembly, on 9 February 2018, receiving 34 votes among 58 provincial assembly members. He was subsequently appointed the first chief minister of Bagmati Province on 12 February 2018, after taking the oath of office from province governor Anuradha Koirala. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Bagmati Provincial Assembly</span>

The Provincial Assembly of Bagmati Province also known as the Bagmati Pradesh Sabha, is a unicameral governing and law making body of Bagmati Province, one of the seven provinces in Nepal. The assembly is seated in the provincial capital at Hetauda in Makwanpur District at the Regional Educational Directorate Office. The assembly has 110 members of whom 66 are elected through first-past-the-post voting and 44 of whom are elected through proportional representation. The term of the assembly is five years unless dissolved earlier.

In the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, a governor is the constitutional head of each of the seven provinces. The governor is appointed by the president of Nepal recommended by federal cabinet for a term of five years, and holds office at the president's pleasure. The governor is de jure head of the provincial government; all its executive actions are taken in the governor's name. However, the governor must act on the advice of the popularly elected council of ministers, headed by the chief minister, which thus holds de facto executive authority at the province-level. The Constitution of Nepal also empowers the governor to act upon his or her own discretion, such as the ability to appoint or dismiss a ministry, recommend president's rule for the president's assent.

The Raut Cabinet is the Council of Ministers headed by Mohammad Lalbabu Raut in Madhesh Province, Nepal. Mohammad Lalbabu Raut from Federal Socialist Forum, Nepal was sworn in the Chief Ministers of Madhesh Province in February 2018. Present arrangement of cabinet is the result of talk between two Former Deputy Prime Ministers, PSP-N President Upendra Yadav and Nepali Congress Vice-president Bimalendra Nidhi who have strong hold in this region from their respective parties.

Shankar Pokharel resigned on 11 August 2021.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Chief Minister of Bagmati Province</span> Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, in Nepal

The chief minister of the Bagmati Province is the head of government of Bagmati Province. The chief minister is appointed by the governor of the province according to Article 167 of the Constitution of Nepal. The chief minister remains in office for five years or until the provincial assembly is dissolved, and is subject to no term limits, given that they have the confidence of the assembly.

Astalaxmi Shakya was sworn in as Minority Chief Minister of Bagmati Province on 18 August 2021. After the split of CPN(UML), she's been working on Interim capacity while opposition has claimed majority. She became Chief Minister after the resignation of outgoing chief minister Dormani Poudel as both the parliamentary party leader and chief minister. Here is the list of Minister.

The first Bagmati Provincial Assembly was elected by the 2017 provincial elections. 110 members were elected to the assembly, 66 of whom were elected through direct elections and 44 of whom were elected through the party list proportional representation system. The term of the assembly started on 1 February 2018 and ended in September 2022. Dormani Poudel and Astalaxmi Shakya served as the chief ministers from the CPN (UML) and Rajendra Prasad Pandey served as chief minister from CPN during the term of the assembly. Sanu Kumar Shrestha served as the speaker of the assembly and Radhika Tamang served as the deputy speaker.

The Second Federal Parliament of Nepal, was elected by the 2022 general elections on 20 November 2022. The elections elected 275 Members of Parliament (MPs), 165 for each constituency and 110 through the party list, to the House of Representatives. The parliament convened for the first time on 9 January 2023.
