Orinoco Faamausili-Banse-Prince is a New Zealand swimmer of Samoan heritage, who specialized in freestyle events. He represented New Zealand at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and competed as part of the men's national swimming team for the men's 4 × 100 m freestyle relay. Faamausili-Banse joined the team, along with compatriots Cameron Gibson, Mark Herring, and Willy Benson, and swam in the final leg of the competition, with an individual split time of 48.96 seconds. He and his swimming team placed sixth in the first heat, and eleventh overall, for a total time of 3:15.41.
Justine Bayigga is a Ugandan sprinter, who specialized in the 400 metres. Bayigga represented Uganda at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed in the women's 400 metres. She ran in the second heat, against six other athletes, including Italy's Libania Grenot, and future world-record holder Amantle Montsho of Botswana. She completed the sprint race in last place, with a time of 54.15 seconds, failing to advance into the semi-finals.
Dedeh Erawati is an Indonesian sprint hurdler. She is a four-time medalist and two-time defending champion at the Southeast Asian Games. She won the bronze medal at the 2009 Asian Athletics Championships in Guangzhou, China, with a time of 13.32 seconds, finishing behind Japan's Asuka Terada and China's Sun Yawei, who claimed the gold in the hurdles. She also set both her personal best and national record of 13.18 seconds at the 2012 Taiwan Open in Taipei, Taiwan.

Pakura, however, failed to advance into the semi-finals, as he placed fifty-second overall, and was ranked farther below two mandatory slots for the next round.

She finished the race in last place by fifteen seconds behind Australia's Madeleine Pape, with her personal and seasonal best time of 2:18.41. Awadallah, however, failed to advance into the semi-finals, as she placed thirty-seventh overall, and was ranked farther below three mandatory slots for the next round. She was eventually upgraded to a higher overall position, when Croatia's Vanja Perišić had been disqualified for failing the doping test.

Lahtio represented Finland at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed for the men's 800 metres. He ran in the eighth heat against seven other competitors, including Cuba's Yeimer López and Algeria's Nabil Madi, who both reached into the final round. He finished the race in last place by thirty-two hundredths of a second behind Morocco's Yassine Bensghir, with a time of 1:47.20. Lahtio, however, failed to advance into the semi-finals, as he placed twenty-seventh overall and was ranked farther below two mandatory slots for the next round.

She ran in the sixth and final heat against six other athletes, including Kenya's Janeth Jepkosgei Busienei, who eventually won the silver medal in the final. She finished the race in sixth place by more than a second behind Italy's Elisa Cusma Piccione, with a time of 2:01.91. Tavares, however, failed to advance into the semi-finals, as she placed twenty-first overall, and was ranked farther below three mandatory slots for the next round.
Michael Kauter is a Swiss épée fencer. He won a bronze medal in the weapon at the 2008 European Fencing Championships in Kiev, Ukraine. He is the son of Christian Kauter, a medalist at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich and at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal in épée, and the brother of Fabian Kauter, an Olympic fencer in the same weapon.
Mourad Marofit is a Moroccan long-distance runner. He set his personal best time of 13:02.84, by winning the men's 5000 metres at the KBC Night of Athletics in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium.
