Australian Hillclimb Championship

The Australian Hillclimb Championship is a CAMS sanctioned motor sport competition which determines Australia's annual hillclimbing champion. The championship has traditionally been awarded to the driver setting fastest time at a single meeting [1] however the 1958 title was awarded based on the combined results of two meetings [2] and a multi round pointscore series was employed from 1972 to 1975. [1]

The championship has been sanctioned by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport since 1954. [3] Prior to this it was sanctioned by the Australian Automobile Association, [4] with two events having national championship status in 1949. [5]

In 2022, history was made when Dean Tighe won the championship, 58 years after his father Ivan, making them the first father and son duo to both win the championship.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hillclimbing</span> Type of competitive motorsport

Hillclimbing, also known as hill climbing, speed hillclimbing, or speed hill climbing, is a branch of motorsport in which drivers compete against the clock to complete an uphill course. It is one of the oldest forms of motorsport, since the first known hillclimb at La Turbie near Nice, France, took place as long ago as 31 January 1897. The hillclimb held at Shelsley Walsh, in Worcestershire, England, is the world's oldest continuously staged motorsport event still staged on its original course, having been first run in 1905.

The Australian Formula Ford Championship is an Australian motor racing competition for drivers of Formula Ford racing cars, held annually since 1970. From 1970 until 1992 it was a national series and from 1993 until 2013 the series was sanctioned by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport as the Australian Formula Ford Championship. From 2014 to 2018 it reverted to national series status. The Australian Formula Ford Championship name was then applied to the series by the Formula Ford Association from 2019.

The 1962 Australian Drivers' Championship was a CAMS sanctioned motor racing title for drivers of Formula Libre racing cars. The winner of the title, which was the sixth Australian Drivers' Championship, was awarded the 1962 CAMS Gold Star.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship</span>

Porsche Carrera Cup Australia is an Australian motor racing series open to Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars. First held in 2003, it is administered by Porsche Cars Australia Pty Ltd and is sanctioned by Motorsport Australia as a national championship through to 2015 and as a National Series from 2016-2021. Starting in 2022 the category returned back as a national championship. During its history, Carrera Cup has been a leading support category for the Supercars Championship. New Zealand driver Craig Baird has been the most successful driver, winning the series five times.

The 2002 Australian Formula Ford Championship was a CAMS sanctioned Australian motor racing title open to Formula Ford racing cars. It was the tenth Australian Formula Ford Championship. The title was won by Jamie Whincup driving a Van Diemen RF 01 Ford.

The 2007 Australian Carrera Cup Championship was a CAMS sanctioned national motor racing championship open to Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Cars. It was administered by CupCar Australia Pty Ltd and promoted as the 2007 Carrera Cup Australia, and is recognised by CAMS as the fifth Australian Carrera Cup Championship.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Australian Tourist Trophy</span>

The Australian Tourist Trophy is a Confederation of Australian Motor Sport-sanctioned national motor racing title, contested between 1956 and 1979 by Sports Cars and, since 2007, by GT cars. The trophy is currently awarded to the outright winners of the Bathurst 12 Hour.

A 1979 Australian Drivers' Championship was a CAMS sanctioned national motor racing title for drivers of Australian Formula 1 racing cars. The championship winner was awarded the 1979 CAMS Gold Star. The title, which was the 23rd Australian Drivers' Championship, was won by Johnnie Walker, driving a Lola T332.

The 2004 Australian Formula Ford Championship was an Australian motor racing competition open to Formula Ford racing cars. The championship was managed by the Formula Ford Association Inc. and was promoted as the 2004 Ford Racing Australian Formula Ford Championship. It is recognised by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) as the 12th Australian Formula Ford Championship.

The 1966 Australian Drivers' Championship was a CAMS sanctioned Australian motor racing title for drivers of racing cars complying with either the Australian National Formula or the Australian 1½ Litre Formula. The winner of the title, which was the tenth Australian Drivers' Championship, was awarded the 1966 CAMS Gold Star.

The 1994 Australian Formula Ford Championship was a CAMS sanctioned motor racing title for drivers of Formula Ford racing cars. It was the 25th national series for Formula Fords to be held in Australia and 2nd to carry the Australian Formula Ford Championship name.

The 1992 Australian Drivers' Championship was a CAMS sanctioned motor racing title for drivers of Formula Brabham racing cars. The winner of the title, which was the 36th Australian Drivers' Championship, was awarded the 1992 CAMS Gold Star. Due to a sponsorship deal with beer brand Tooheys, the championship was promoted as the "Tooheys Australian Drivers' Championship".

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Collingrove Hillclimb</span>

Collingrove Hillclimb is a motor sport facility located in South Australia's Barossa Valley. It is situated approximately 7 km south of Angaston, off the Angaston — Mount Pleasant Road, and is owned and operated by the Sporting Car Club of South Australia. It has been in operation since 1952. The opening meeting was held on 15 March 1952 with J. F. Crouch in a Cooper Mark 5 setting a record for the course of 39.95 seconds.

The 1985 Australian Manufacturers' Championship was a CAMS sanctioned motor racing title for car manufacturers. It was the 15th manufacturers title to be awarded by CAMS and the 6th to carry the Australian Manufacturers' Championship name. All championship rounds were open to cars complying with Australian Touring Car regulations, which were based on FIA Group A rules.

The 2000 Australian Drivers' Championship was a CAMS sanctioned national motor racing title for drivers of cars conforming to Formula Holden regulations. The title was contested over an 8-round, 16 race series with the winner awarded the 2000 CAMS Gold Star. The championship, which was promoted as the 2000 Holden Australian Drivers' Championship, was the 44th Australian Drivers' Championship and the 12th to be contested with Formula Holden or Formula Brabham cars.

The 2006 Australian Carrera Cup Championship was a CAMS sanctioned motor racing title for drivers of Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Cars. It was the fourth Australian Carrera Cup Championship.

The championship, which was the third Australian Carrera Cup Championship, was administered by CupCar Australia Pty Ltd. and was promoted as the “Wright Patton Shakespeare Carrera Cup Australia”. <span class="mw-page-title-main">1960 Australian Tourist Trophy</span>

The 1960 Australian Tourist Trophy was a motor race for sports cars, staged at the Longford Circuit in Tasmania, Australia on Monday, 7 March 1960. It was the fourth in a sequence of annual Australian Tourist Trophy races, with each of these being recognized by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport as the Australian Championship for sports cars.
