Motorsport Australia, formerly the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS), is the nationally recognised governing and sanctioning body for four-wheeled motorsport in Australia. It is affiliated with the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).
Motorsport Australia has been the custodian of motor sport in Australia since 1953. It is the National Sporting Authority (ASN) for motorsport in Australia, recognised by Sport Australia, and is delegated this responsibility by the FIA. Motorsport Australia affiliated with the FIA in its own right in 1958 before being granted full membership in October of that year on a probationary basis.
In 1960, Motorsport Australia's membership of the FIA as an ASN was confirmed as permanent.
The FIA aims to ensure that motorsport is conducted in accordance with the highest standards of safety, fairness and social responsibility and Motorsport Australia, together with in excess of 120 other ASNs in over 100 nations, is committed to carrying out the mission of the FIA.
Motorsport Australia has been the custodian of motorsport in Australia since it was founded in 1953. [2] The organisation is the Australian-delegated national sporting authority by the FIA, the governing body for world motorsport and the federation of the world's leading motoring organisations; a responsibility Motorsport Australia has held since 1958.
Motorsport Australia is also recognised by Sport Australia as the only National Sporting Organisation for four-wheeled motorsport in Australia.
As at January 2020, Motorsport Australia had approximately 95,000 members, in over 600 car clubs. It licenses more than 27,500 competitors and over 10,500 accredited officials. Motorsport Australia sanctions more than 3000 events per year from club level to International level. [3]
On 1 January 2020, Motorsport Australia was formally adapted as the trading name for what was previously CAMS. [4]

The Australian Auto-Sport Alliance (AASA) is an organisation that promotes and administers motorsport in Australia founded in 2003. The AASA formed due to dissatisfaction with the governing body of Australian motorsport, the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport, and organises race meetings independent of Motorsport Australia. A wholly owned subsidiary of the Benalla Auto Club, who also own Winton Motor Raceway and Wakefield Park, the association sanctions motor sport in various categories.
The Motorsports Association of India (MAI) was the national sporting authority (ASN) of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) in India for a period between 2000 and 2008. It was the association responsible for the control and promotion of motorsport in India under the International Sporting Code of the FIA for a few years. The current ASN is Federation of Motor Sports Clubs in India (FMSCI). MAI was a rival body formed by Nazir Hoosein.
The Australian Formula Ford Championship is an Australian motor racing competition for drivers of Formula Ford racing cars, held annually since 1970. From 1970 until 1992 it was a national series and from 1993 until 2013 the series was sanctioned by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport as the Australian Formula Ford Championship. From 2014 to 2018 it reverted to national series status. The Australian Formula Ford Championship name was then applied to the series by the Formula Ford Association from 2019.

The 2008 Australian GT Championship was a CAMS sanctioned Australian motor racing competition for closed, production based sports cars which were either approved by the FIA for GT3 competition or approved by CAMS as Australian GT cars. It was the 12th Australian GT Championship to be awarded by CAMS. The Australian GT Sportscar Group Pty Ltd was recognised by CAMS as the Category Manager and Administrator for the 2008 championship.
The Australian Superkart Championship is a motor racing series run in Australia under the auspices of CAMS under their Superkart regulations. The karts race on full-size Australian circuits and in 2013 the series was raced at Sydney Motorsport Park and Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. As of 2007 the series has raced as part of the Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships. The series is one of nine that enjoy full CAMS Australian Championship status.
The 2012 Formula 3 Australian Drivers' Championship was a CAMS sanctioned national motor racing title with the winner awarded the 2012 CAMS Gold Star award. The 2012 championship was the 56th Australian Drivers' Championship and the eighth to be contested with open wheel racing cars constructed in accordance with FIA Formula 3 regulations. The 2012 Australian Formula 3 Championship title was also awarded to the series winner. The championship began on 1 March 2012 at the Adelaide Street Circuit and ended on 23 September at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit after seven rounds across six different states with three races at each round.

The 2016 Australian Formula 3 Premier Series is an Australian motor racing competition for cars constructed in accordance with FIA Formula 3 regulations. It is sanctioned by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) as an Authorised Series, with Formula 3 Management Pty Ltd appointed as the Category Manager. The series began on 2 April at Sandown Raceway and will end on 13 November at Sydney Motorsport Park after seven triple-header rounds across three states. This was the first Australian Formula 3 Premier Series to be contested, with the Australian Formula 3 Championship having been discontinued at the end of 2015.

SFI Foundation, Inc. (SFI), formerly known as SEMA Foundation, Inc., is a nonprofit organization which administers standard for motorsports equipment, including racing suits, roll cages and other technical components. The organisation was founded to prevent injuries among drivers, and today plays an important role in standardisation, certification and quality assurance of equipment. The FIA approves or in certain cases requires SFI-approved equipment in competitions.
