Axiom Films is an international film distributor and producer [1] based in London.

Founded in 1997 by producer Douglas Cummins and partner Rocio Freire-Bernat, Axiom specialises in independent and world cinema, as well as documentary, filmed opera and dance. [2]

Notable films under Axiom ownership include Half Nelson , [3] for which actor Ryan Gosling was nominated for the Best Actor award at the 2007 Academy Awards, In a Better World , which won the Best Foreign Language Film at the 2011 Academy Awards, and the majority of Wim Wenders’s feature and documentary films.

Axiom is owned by UKI Investments and founders Douglas Cummins and Rocio Freire-Bernat, who also retain a controlling interest and act as managing director and director of acquisitions respectively. UKI is one of the largest privately owned investment companies in the United Kingdom, with interests in real estate, mining, agriculture, financial services and technology across a broad geographical footprint. Axiom distributes an average 10 theatrical releases and 20 DVD films each year, as well as online and digitally through LoveFilm, iTunes and FilmFlex.

Half Nelson is a 2006 American drama film directed by Ryan Fleck and written by Fleck and Anna Boden. The film stars Ryan Gosling, Shareeka Epps and Anthony Mackie. It was scored by Canadian band Broken Social Scene. 26-year-old Gosling was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance, becoming the seventh-youngest nominee in the category at the time.

The 19th Academy Awards were held on March 13, 1947, honoring the films of 1946. The top awards portion of the ceremony was hosted by Jack Benny.

Leanne Pooley ONZM is a Canadian filmmaker based in Auckland, New Zealand. Pooley was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, she immigrated to New Zealand in the mid-1980s and began working in the New Zealand television and film industry before moving to England where she worked for many of the world's top broadcasters. Louie Edward Lawless is a Canadian film actor, documentary director, and Academy Award-nominated producer. Born in British Columbia, he traveled to California at the age of 18 and found work as an actor in Hollywood. He eventually became involved in the production of films and worked for over two decades in film production before returning to Canada in 1994. Since then, he has been involved with Kevin Annett in producing films that raise public awareness of the abuses of the Canadian Indian residential school system.
