Badminton events at the 2023 African Games took place between 7 and 10 March at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, Ghana. The badminton program in 2023 included men's and women's singles competitions; men's, women's and mixed doubles competitions alongside a mixed team event throughout the six days of competition. [1] The tournament served as a qualifier for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.

Contents

Due to undisclosed reasons, the mixed team event which was supposed to be held from 4 to 7 March was cancelled. Therefore, only the individual events were held. [2] [3]

The African Badminton Championships is a tournament organized by the Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA) to crown the best badminton players in Africa. For the Team event there is the African Badminton Cup of Nations. This is not to be confused with the All African Games, the multi sports event, held every four years where badminton is included since 2003. Winnifred Ntumi is a Ghanaian weightlifter, competing in the 45 kg category and representing Ghana at international competitions. She competed at world championships, most recently at the 2018 Africa Youth Championship, 2019 Africa Weightlifting Championship in Egypt and the 2019 Africa Games in Morocco.

Borteyman Sports Complex is a multidisciplinary sport center located in Borteyman, a suburb of Accra, Ghana. It was commissioned by Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, the President of Ghana on 13th February, 2024 ahead of the 13th Africa Games to be hosted in Ghana.
