The mixed doubles badminton tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics took place from 27 July to 2 August at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena in Paris. There were 15 pairs (30 players) from 13 nations competing. Chinese pair Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongping were defending Olympic champions, but Wang had since retired and Huang was eliminated in the quarter-finals with her new partner. Their compatriot, Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong, whom they defeated in the 2020 final, won the gold medal this time, eliminating Huang Dongping along the way.
The 16 teams were split into four groups of four pairs each. Each pair played a round-robin tournament with the top-two ranked teams advancing to the knockout stage. Each match was played in a best-of-3. [1]

Tontowi Ahmad is a retired Indonesian badminton player. He plays for PB. Djarum, a badminton club in Kudus, Central Java and joined the club in 2005. Tontowi Ahmad rose to prominence in the world badminton in 2010 when he paired with the established mixed doubles star Liliyana Natsir. With Natsir he won the 2016 Olympic gold medal in the mixed doubles category.
Praveen Jordan is an Indonesian badminton player who specialises in doubles. He is a two-time All England Open champion in mixed doubles, winning in 2016 with Debby Susanto and in 2020 with Melati Daeva Oktavianti. He has played for the badminton club PB Djarum since 2008.
Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with PB Djarum since 2007. She was the 2011 Indonesia National and World Junior Champions in the mixed doubles event. For her achievements, Widjaja was awarded as the best Djarum player of the year. She won her first senior international title in 2014 Macau Open Grand Prix Gold.
Melati Daeva Oktavianti is an Indonesian doubles specialist badminton player affiliated with Djarum club since 2008. She was the 2019 SEA Games gold medalist in the mixed doubles with Praveen Jordan, and 2012 World Junior mixed doubles champion partnered with Edi Subaktiar. Oktavianti and Subaktiar partnership were also a former world junior number 1.
Huang Yaqiong is a Chinese badminton player who specializes in doubles. She is an Olympic gold medalist, three-time World Champion, two-time Asian Games gold medalist, and two-time Asian Champion. She also won a silver medal in the 2020 Summer Olympics. Huang is the current world number 1 in the mixed doubles with Zheng Siwei.
Zheng Siwei is a Chinese badminton player specializing in doubles. He is an Olympic gold medalist, a three-time World Champion and two-time Asian Games gold medalist in the mixed doubles with his current partner Huang Yaqiong. He also helped the national team clinch the 2018 Thomas and 2019 Sudirman Cup.
Huang Dongping is a Chinese badminton player. She is the reigning mixed doubles Olympic Champion, and was three-time mixed doubles Asian Champion, winning in 2018, 2019 and 2024.
Liu Yuchen is a Chinese badminton player. He was the men's doubles World Champion in 2018, two-time Asian Champion in 2017 and 2018, and also a silver medalist at the 2020 Summer Olympics partnered with Li Junhui. Liu was part of the national team that won the 2018 Asian Games, 2018 Thomas Cup, and 2019 Sudirman Cup. Together with Li, he achieved the men's doubles world number 1 in 6 April 2017, and occupied the top ranking for ten weeks.
Chae Yoo-jung is a South Korean badminton player who affiliated with Incheon International Airport team. She is the daughter of former singles player Kim Bok-sun. She won the mixed doubles title at the 2023 World Championships. Chae was a part of the Korean national team that won the world mixed team championships at the 2017 Sudirman Cup.
Wang Yilyu, sometimes also transliterated as Wang Yilu, Wang Yilv or Wang Yilü, is a Chinese former badminton player. He is the reigning mixed doubles Olympic Champion, and was two-time mixed doubles Asian Champion winning in 2018 and 2019.
Yuta Watanabe is a Japanese badminton player. He is a member of the Nihon Unisys team, and national team A representative. Known for his quick and explosive movements with signature drop shots on court, Watanabe has won the mixed doubles bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics, as well as being four-time BWF World Championships medalists.
Arisa Higashino is a Japanese badminton player. She won bronze in the mixed team at the Asian Junior Championships in 2013 and 2014, and competed at the 2014 World Junior Championships, winning two bronzes in the mixed doubles and team event. Higashino won her maiden Super 1000 tournament at the 2018 and 2021 All England Open in the mixed doubles event, partnering with Yuta Watanabe, and also won the bronze medal in the mixed doubles at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Seo Seung-jae is a South Korean badminton player. He is the first South Korean player in 24 years to have won two gold medals in a single edition of the BWF World Championships, by winning the mixed and men's doubles event at the 2023 BWF World Championships, partnering with Chae Yoo-jung and Kang Min-hyuk respectively. He competed at the 2017 Sudirman Cup and helped the Korean national team to its fourth trophy.
The mixed doubles badminton tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place from 24 to 30 July at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza at Tokyo. There were 16 pairs from 15 nations competing.
The 2022 Malaysia Open was a badminton tournament that took place at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 28 June to 3 July 2022 and had a total prize of US$675,000. This was the first edition to take place since 2019.
Dejan Ferdinansyah is an Indonesian badminton player who is affiliated with the Djarum club.
The 2022 BWF World Tour Finals was the final tournament of the 2022 BWF World Tour. It was scheduled to be held from 14 to 18 December 2022 in Guangzhou, China but was later moved to Bangkok, Thailand, and held a week earlier – from 7 to 11 December 2022 – due to the COVID-19 pandemic in China. It had a total prize of $1,500,000.
The men's doubles badminton tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics took place from 27 July to 4 August 2024 at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena in Paris. A total of 34 players from 15 nations competed at the tournament. Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin, who represented Chinese Taipei, were the defending Olympic champions. They successfully retained their Olympic title, becoming the first men's doubles pair to do so together and the first consecutive Olympic badminton champions not to represent the People's Republic of China.
The women's doubles badminton tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics took place from 27 July to 3 August at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena in Paris. There were 16 pairs from 13 nations competing. Indonesian pair Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu were defending Olympic champions, but Polii had since retired and Rahayu was eliminated in the group stage with her new partner.
The badminton mixed doubles tournament at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou took place from 2 to 7 October at Binjiang Gymnasium.
