Baeksang Arts Awards South Korean film and television awards

Baeksang Arts Awards, also known as Paeksang Arts Awards, is an awards ceremony held annually by IS PLUS Corp., publisher of Ilgan Sports, since 1965. It recognizes achievements in film, television, and theater, making it the only comprehensive art award in South Korea. It was established by Chang Key-young, founder of the Hankook Ilbo newspaper, whose pen name was "Baeksang". The ceremony is usually held in the spring each year in Seoul.

Shin Seong-il was a South Korean actor, film director, producer, and former politician. A legendary actor with 500 films in over 40 years, Shin debuted in director Shin Sang-ok's 1960 film A Romantic Papa and rose to fame through popular youth titles. A star in the 1960s and 1970s, however, his status as one of Korea's top actors extended well into the 1980s.

Making a switch to directing, he debuted with the hit period drama film Forbidden Quest (2006), followed by The Servant (2010) and Obsessed (2014). Forbidden Quest won the Best New Director at the 42nd Baeksang Arts Awards, and Best New Director and Best Screenplay at the 26th Korean Association of Film Critics Awards in 2006.

Ahn Gooc-jin, is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. Ahn's directorial feature debut Alice in Earnestland (2015) has won various awards, including New Talent Award at the 39th Hong Kong Asian Film Festival, Best Screenplay at the 52nd Baeksang Arts Awards and Best Independent Film Director at the 16th Director's Cut Awards.
