The Baeksang Arts Awards, also known as Paeksang Arts Awards, is an awards ceremony held annually by IS PLUS Corp., publisher of Ilgan Sports, since 1965. It is to honour outstanding achievements in the South Korean entertainment industry and to garner public attention upon the best in Korean films, television, and theater. It was established by Chang Key-young, founder of the Hankook Ilbo newspaper, [1] whose pen name was "Baeksang." The ceremony is usually presented in April or May in Seoul. [2]

Jeon Do-yeon is a South Korean actress. She won Best Actress at the 60th Cannes Film Festival, making her the first and only Korean ever to win an acting award at the prestigious film festival, and Best Performance by an Actress at the 1st Asia Pacific Screen Awards for her performance in Lee Chang-dong's 2007 film Secret Sunshine. Although she is not as broadly popular with the audiences as some other stars in South Korea due to her film choices, Jeon is widely respected and celebrated for her acting abilities. She is widely considered as the greatest South Korean actress of all time, and many young actresses have cited her as a role model.

Lee Hye-young is a South Korean actress. She is the daughter of celebrated film director Lee Man-hee, who died in 1975 when she was in middle school. Lee began her acting career in 1981 at the age of 17 through a local musical theatre production of The Sound of Music. Since then she has performed in theater, feature and short films, and television. She was one of the most prominent South Korean actresses in the 1980s, starring in films such as The Blazing Sun (1985), Winter Wanderer (1986), Ticket (1986), The Age of Success (1988), North Korean Partisan in South Korea (1990), Fly High Run Far (1991), Passage to Buddha (1993), and No Blood No Tears (2002). Lee also played supporting roles in the Korean dramas I'm Sorry, I Love You (2004), Fashion 70's (2005) and Boys Over Flowers (2009).
The 50th Baeksang Arts Awards ceremony was held at Kyung Hee University's Peace Palace Hall in Seoul on May 27, 2014. It was broadcast on jTBC and was presented by IS Plus Corp. It was hosted by comedian Shin Dong-yup and actress Kim Ah-joong.

The annual awards ceremony is one of South Korea’s most prestigious award shows, recognizing excellence in film, television, and theater. The ceremony was initially set for May 1, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It did not invite an audience to prevent the spread of the disease.
