Im Sang-soo is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. He has twice been invited to compete for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, with The Housemaid in 2010 and The Taste of Money in 2012.

The Baeksang Arts Awards, also known as the Paeksang Arts Awards, are awards for the excellence in the film, television and theater industry of South Korea. Baeksang ceremony is the only comprehensive entertainment awards ceremony in South Korea. The awards were first introduced in 1965 by Chang Key-young, the founder of Hankook Ilbo newspaper, whose pen name was "Baeksang". It was established for the development of Korean popular culture and art and for enhancing the morale of artists.
Shin Seong-il was a South Korean actor, film director, producer, and former politician. A legendary actor with 500 films in over 40 years, Shin debuted in director Shin Sang-ok's 1960 film A Romantic Papa and rose to fame through popular youth titles. A star in the 1960s and 1970s, however, his status as one of Korea's top actors extended well into the 1980s.

Kim Ji-mee is a South Korean actress, producer, and film planner whose activity began in 1957. She was born in Daedeok, South Chungcheong province, Korea in 1940. While a student of Deokseong Girls' High School, Kim was cast to Kim Ki-young's film, Hwanghon yeolcha (황혼열차) in 1957. Kim has been commonly dubbed "Elizabeth Taylor of Korea" by the South Korean news media for her resemblance with the American actress' appearance and popularity as well as her many marriages and divorces.

Jung Joo-ri, also known as July Jung, is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. Jung's directorial debut feature A Girl at My Door won the Best First Film at the 25th Stockholm International Film Festival. She also won the Best New Director at the 23rd Buil Film Awards and Best Director/Screenwriter at the 15th Women in Film Korea Awards in 2014, and Best Screenplay at the 2nd Wildflower Film Awards and Best New Director for film at the 51st Baeksang Arts Awards in 2015.
Kim Dae-woo is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. Kim started his filmmaking career by winning the 1991 Korean Film Council Screenplay Contest. He was an accomplished screenwriter with a number of hit scripts, including The Girl for Love and The One for Marriage (1993), An Affair (1998), Rainbow Trout (1999), and Untold Scandal (2003). Making a switch to directing, he debuted with the hit period drama film Forbidden Quest (2006), followed by The Servant (2010) and Obsessed (2014). Forbidden Quest won the Best New Director at the 42nd Baeksang Arts Awards, and Best New Director and Best Screenplay at the 26th Korean Association of Film Critics Awards in 2006.
Ahn Gooc-jin, is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. Ahn's directorial feature debut Alice in Earnestland (2015) has won various awards, including New Talent Award at the 39th Hong Kong Asian Film Festival, Best Screenplay at the 52nd Baeksang Arts Awards and Best Independent Film Director at the 16th Director's Cut Awards.

The 56th Baeksang Arts Awards ceremony was held on June 5, 2020 at KINTEX, Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, hosted by Shin Dong-yup, Bae Suzy and Park Bo-gum for the third consecutive year. The annual awards ceremony is one of South Korea’s most prestigious award shows, recognizing excellence in film, television, and theater. The ceremony was initially set for May 1, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It did not invite an audience to prevent the spread of the disease.
