Kis Ki Aayegi Baraat or Baraat Series is a Pakistani comedy television series developed by Marina Khan and Nadeem Baig for Geo Entertainment. It is loosely based on the marriage ceremonies that take place in Punjabi families in Punjab, and stars Bushra Ansari as a comical woman named Saima Chaudhry along with Saba Hameed, Jawed Sheikh, and Shehryar Zaidi. The series received generally positive reviews from critics.

The comedy series started with its first serial Azar Ki Ayegi Baraat which premiered on 30 November 2009. It was followed by Dolly Ki Ayegi Baraat in 2010, Takkay Ki Ayegi Baraat in 2011, and Annie Ki Ayegi Baraat in 2012. [1] After that, the series was stopped.

The series was also telecast on the Indian channel Zindagi starting in 2015. [2] [3]

Development and production

After the success of Azar Ki Ayegi Baraat , Evernew Productions produced its sequel Dolly Ki Ayegi Baraat . This time Vasay Chaudhry was the co-writer with Bushra Ansari. It was the first time that Vasay had written a script for any series. The character of Sila was replaced by Ayesha Omar in this series. [4]

In August 2018, news came out that Bushra Ansari had offered to write the script of the next season of the series. [5] [6]

Mrs. Chaudhary ka Tarka, a cooking show inspired by Baraat Series, was released in Ramadan 2021. [7]

In Ramadan 2021, the channel launched a cooking show featuring the character of Saima Chaudhry as a host, inviting the characters from the series as guests in each episode. The show was produced by Humayun Saeed, Hassaan Azhar, and Shehzad Nasib and was directed by Nadeem Baig. The executive producers of the show are Nadeem Baig and Irfan Malik. It was aired in the afternoon having 20-minute episodes. [8]

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, sometimes abbreviated as JPNA is a 2015 Pakistani adventure comedy film directed by Nadeem Baig. It was co-produced by Humayun Saeed, Salman Iqbal and Shahzad Nasib at Saeed's production house, Six Sigma Plus. It is the first installment in the Jawani Phir Nahi Ani film series, The film stars Humayun Saeed, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ahmad Ali Butt, Vasay Chaudhry and Mehwish Hayat. The supporting cast includes Sohai Ali Abro, Jawed Sheikh, Ismail Tara, Bushra Ansari, Ayesha Khan, Sarwat Gillani and Uzma Khan. The film is about a single man who is a divorce lawyer. Shahzad Sheikh is a Pakistani television and film actor. He is the son of Pakistani actor, director and producer Jawed Sheikh. Dolly Ki Ayegi Baraat is a Pakistani drama serial and second installment of the Baraat Series, aired on Geo Entertainment in 2010. The series stars Bushra Ansari, Saba Hameed, Javed Sheikh, Samina Ahmed, Natasha Ali and Nabeel Butt, respired their roles from the previous season while Ali Safina and Ayesha Omer joined for this season. Directed by Nadeem Baig and Marina Khan, the script was co-written by Bushra Ansari and Vasay Chaudhry. The story revolves around the marriage and wedding plans of Azar's cousin Dolly and also focuses on the themes of cultural clash and our attitude towards the class system of society.

Nadeem Baig is Pakistani film and television director, producer and writer from Karachi. Baig won the Lux Style Award For Best Director for Punjab Nahi Jaungi.

Sumbul Shahid was a Pakistani actress, singer, and host. She was the daughter of Ahmad Bashir a writer, journalist, intellectual, and film director from Pakistan She was known for her roles in the dramas Takkay Ki Ayegi Baraat, Pani Jaisa Piyar, Dekho Chaand Aaya, Ishqaaway, and Nand.
