Basketball at the Islamic Solidarity Games

Basketball is a part of the Islamic Solidarity Games since the 2005 edition.

Contents

At the 2005 and 2013 event, the tournament was held as a competition of "regular" 5 on 5 full court basketball. Since 2017, it has been played as a 3x3 basketball half court tournament.

The 1st Islamic Solidarity Games held in the Islamic holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia from 8–20 April 2005 with an Olympic-style tournament aimed at showing Muslim sports prowess and featuring 6,000 athletes. Only men's events were included on the programme.

The Islamic Solidarity Games is a multinational, multi-sport event. The Games involve the elite athletes of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation who compete in a variety of sports. The Solidarity Games were initially created to strengthen Islamic camaraderie and reinforce the values of Islam, primarily to the youth. The Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) and the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is the organization that is responsible for the direction and control of the Islamic Solidarity Games. The ISSF strives to improve Islamic solidarity, promote Islamic identity in sports and help reduce discrimination toward Muslims.

Baku Tennis Academy, is a tennis venue in Baku, Azerbaijan. The center currently hosts the Baku Cup. The main stadium has a capacity of 10,000 people. The central court has a capacity of 3,000, and the other 12 open/closed courts have a capacity of 200.

The Islamic Solidarity Games are a regional multi-sport event held between nations from the Muslim world. A men's football tournament has been held at every session of the Games since the first edition in 2005.

The Islamic Games was a multi-sport event for athletes from Muslim countries that was held from 26 September to 6 October 1980 in İzmir, Turkey. Basketball competitions at the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games was held from 18 to 21 May 2017 at the Basketball Arena in Baku. The competition was taken place in the half-court 3x3 format. Each team consisted of four athletes, of whom three could appear on court at any one time.
