Ben Nicholas is an Australian actor, known for playing Scott "Stingray" Timmins in the Australian soap opera Neighbours .

Early and personal life

Raised in Adelaide, South Australia, Nicholas moved to Melbourne, Victoria where he attended Carey Grammar School.[ citation needed ]

Nicholas is married to Stephanie Lilja. Their first child was born on 23 June 2022. [1]

Career

Nicholas played the character of Stingray Timmins on the Australian soap opera Neighbours . His final performance as Stingray aired on 23 March 2007, when his character was killed off. During this time he also performed in a band called 'Batman Street'.[ citation needed ]

Following his Neighbours stint, Nicholas travelled from Australia to the UK to perform pantomimes over the Christmas period. In December 2006, he performed at the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, as Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk .[ citation needed ] He performed in Cinderella in the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage from 1 December 2007 until 27 January 2008.[ citation needed ] He appeared in Jack and the Beanstalk once more, playing the titular role of Jack, at the Gordon Craig Theatre from 29 November 2008 until 25 January 2009.[ citation needed ] He was also involved with The Rayz, a London-based band which toured during September–October 2007, playing over 40 dates. Nicholas appeared on BBC's Celebrity Scissorhands for Children in Need 2007 . [3]

Nicholas appeared in the stage version of the Disney film High School Musical in London, playing the part of Jack Scott. The shows ran from Saturday 28 June 2008 until Sunday 31 August 2008 in the Hammersmith Apollo London. [4] After moving back to Australia, he played Pepper in the Australian tour of Mamma Mia! [5]

In 2015, Nicholas created, wrote and starred in the spoof game show series Footballer Wants A Wife , which was funded by Screen Australia. He played the lead role of Steven Papakonstantinou. [6]

Sky Mangel is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours. She made her first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 1 February 1989. The character was originally played by Miranda Fryer until 1991. When Sky was reintroduced on 13 August 2003, Stephanie McIntosh took over the role. She departed on 3 August 2007. McIntosh reprised her role as part of the show's 30th anniversary celebrations on 20 March 2015. She returned for a longer stint as part of the 35th anniversary on 13 March 2020, and made an unannounced cameo appearance in the final episode on 28 July 2022, though her appearance was only broadcast in the Australian cut of the episode.

Neighbours is a long-running Australian television soap opera created by television executive Reg Watson. It was first broadcast on the Seven Network on 18 March 1985 and currently airs on digital channel 10 Peach. Since its inception, several spin-offs have been produced, including books, music, DVDs and internet webisodes. Several annuals and books by pulp fiction writer Carl Ruhen were released in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Barry Crocker's version of the theme tune was the first music release from the show, which also has included a Christmas album and the show's love theme. Two potential television spin-offs have reached the pilot stage, while five DVD box sets of Neighbours episodes from the beginning have been released. In 2013, Neighbours launched their first webisode series Steph in Prison. Several other webisode series' has since been released, with the most recent series SheilaTV becoming available from December 2018. Other merchandise includes official video and board games, stationary and clothing.
