Bethany Mae Dobbin (born 7 June 1994 in Doncaster) [1] is a British sprinter who competes mainly in the 200 metres. She is the Scottish record holder for the 200 metres with a time of 22.50 secs. She represented Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Dobbin's season best for the 200 metres in 2016 was 23.94 secs at Loughbrough in June. In 2017, she improved her best to 23.31 secs in her heat at the British Championships in July, going on to finish sixth in the final in 23.42.
Dobbin broke the Scottish 200m record four times in June/July 2018. Sandra Whittaker's previous record of 22.98 secs had stood since 1984. Dobbin ran 22.84 at Eton on 2 June, 22.83 at the Diamond League in Stockholm on 10 June, then improved the record twice more at the British Championships in Birmingham on 1 July, running 22.75 in her heat, before winning the final in 22.59. [2] Her other best times include 11.64 secs for the 100 metres (2018) and 53.21 secs for the 400 metres (2018 indoors).
On 15 July 2018, Dobbin finished third in the 200 metres at the Athletics World Cup in London in 22.95 secs. She competed a month later at the European Championships in Berlin, and finished second in her 200 metres semi-final in 22.84 secs on 10 August, to automatically qualify for the following days final, where she finished seventh in a time of 22.93 secs. On 20 July 2019, Dobbin finished third in the 200 metres at the Müller Anniversary Games in London in a new personal best of 22.50 secs, improving her own Scottish Record by 0.09 secs. [4]
Dobbin was selected to run in the women's 200 metres at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She qualified from her heat but was eliminated in the semi-final in a time of 22.78 secs. [5]
Dobbin was part of the British 4 x 100 metres quartet than ran a world leading time and set a new meeting record at the British Grand Prix of 42.29 seconds in May 2022. [6]
She is the daughter of former Celtic, Grimsby Town, Barnsley and Doncaster Rovers footballer Jim Dobbin. [7]

Ivet Miroslavova Lalova-Collio is a Bulgarian athlete who specialises in the 100 metres and 200 metres sprint events. She is the 13th-fastest woman in the history of the 100 metres. She finished fourth in the 100 metres and fifth in the 200 metres at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Her career was interrupted for two years between June 2005 and May 2007 due to a leg injury sustained in a collision with another athlete. In June 2012 she won gold at the 2012 European Athletics Championships in the Women's 100 metres. In July 2016 she won two silver medals at the 2016 European Athletics Championships in both the Women's 100 and 200 metres. She has participated in five editions of the Olympic Games.
Phylis Smith is a female former sprinter from Great Britain who won an Olympic bronze medal in the 4 x 400 metres relay in Barcelona 1992. In 1994, she won a European Championships bronze medal in the 400 metres.
Catherine Ann Murphy is a Welsh former athlete who competed mainly in the 200 metres and 400 metres. She finished fourth in the 4 × 400 metres relay at the 2004 Athens Olympics, fourth in the 400 metres at the 2003 World Indoor Championships, and won a bronze medal in the 4 × 400 metres relay at the 2005 European Indoor Championships.
Kerron Stewart is a retired Jamaican sprinter who specialized in the 100 metres and 200 metres. She is the 2008 Jamaican national champion in the 100 m clocking 10.80s. She defeated World Champion Veronica Campbell-Brown in the process and now is the 2008 Summer Olympics silver medalist after she tied with Sherone Simpson in a time of 10.98s. She also earned a bronze medal in the 200 metres at the 2008 Summer Olympics with a time of 22.00s. She was born in Kingston and retired after the 2018 season.

Mujinga Kambundji is a Swiss sprinter. She won the bronze medal in the 200 metres at the 2019 World Championships. Kambundji is the 60 metres 2022 World indoor champion, becoming the joint fourth-fastest woman of all time in the event, after earning a bronze in 2018. She is a three-time European Championships medallist, with gold for the 200 m and silver for the 100 m in 2022, and bronze for the 100 m in 2016. At the European Indoor Championships, she earned gold in the 60 m in 2023 and bronze in 2017.
Eilidh Doyle is a retired British track and field athlete. Originally running as Eilidh Child, she specialised in the 400 metres hurdles outdoors, and the 400 metres flat indoors, as well as the 4 x 400 metres relay on both surfaces. She represented Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, and won an Olympic bronze medal in the 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. Matthew Hudson-Smith is a British track and field sprinter who specialises in the 400 metres and is the 5th fastest athlete of all-time over the distance. As of September 2024 he is ranked as the number one 400m runner in the world and has won six British titles, five Diamond League events, two individual European titles, an individual Olympic silver medal, World Championships silver and bronze individual medals and an individual Commonwealth silver medal. He has also won a number of relay titles including an Olympic bronze medal, World Championships bronze medal, two European gold medals, one European silver medal, one European bronze medal and a Commonwealth Games gold medal. Gonezie Marie Josée Dominique Ta Lou-Smith is an Ivorian sprinter competing in the 100 metres and 200 m. She finished fourth in the 100 metres and 200 metres finals at the 2016 Olympic Games, missing out on a medal in the 100m by seven-thousandths of a second (0.007). She then won silver medals in the 100 metres and 200 metres at the 2017 World Championships, the latter in the national record time of 22.08 seconds. Her 100 metres best is 10.72 seconds (2022), thus making her the African record holder.
