Bhima Jewellers is a jewellery retail company based in India. It was established by Bhima Bhattar in the year 1925. [2] As of June 2023, the group has 116 jewellery shops [3] across South India and more than 2000 employees. Bhima Jewellers were the first jewellery store to introduce ready-made jewellery concept under the guidance of its founder Bhima Bhattar. [4]

Bhima has branches at Chennai, Kottayam, Thirunelveli, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, [5] Kozhikode, [6] Bengaluru, Nagercoil and Madurai. After the death of founder Bhattar, the Bhima Group was managed by his five sons, Girirajan, Govindan, Krishnan, Bindumadhav and Lakshmikanthan, with each having separately managed headquarters and their own chain of branches. [7] In 2012, Bhima announced a 2-year plan to expand its jewellery network by investing ₹5,500 crore. [8]

With a turnover of ₹48,000 crore in 2022, it is considered one of the six firms that controlled India's gold. [9]

Products

Their major products include Traditional Kerala designs, Tamil Nadu designs, Bengali heavy-weight designs, Nellore colour Stone studded jewellery, Karwar precious Stone studded jewellery, diamond, [10] platinum and silver jewellery. [11]

Awards

Bhima has been retaining its position of highest sales tax paying [12] jewellery showroom award in Kerala State for several years and also maintains top position [13] in the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF), [14] [15] [16] conducted by the Government of Kerala.

The Gold business in Thrissur is a major revenue earner for the economy of Kerala, India. About 500 kg of gold jewellery is manufactured every year in state, the majority of which is done in Thrissur, making the city a hub of gold business and gold jewellery manufacturing in Kerala and South India. All major jewellery groups in Kerala have manufacturing facility and showrooms in Thrissur.

As of May 2023, it owns more than 330 showrooms across 11 countries, making it one of the largest chains of jewellery retailer in the world. The company also owns Malabar Watches, a network of luxury watch boutiques operating across India.

M Kiran Kumar is an Indian businessman and the chairman of Lalitha Jewellery and philanthropist from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. He is also the managing director of Lalitha Jewellery, one of India's largest retail jewellery advertiser on TV and world's largest jewellery showroom owner having 1,30,000 sq ft surpassing Malabar Gold showroom having 1,10,000 sq feet.
