Bicep are an electronic music production and DJ duo from Belfast, Northern Ireland, consisting of Andrew Ferguson and Matthew McBriar. [1] [2]
Bicep was formed in 2009 as a production and DJing pair in London. The duo, childhood friends, [3] created a blog called "Feel My Bicep", which was used to post lost and forgotten disco, Chicago house, Detroit techno and Italo disco edits. [4] [5]
They released tracks on labels Throne of Blood, Traveller Records and Mystery Meat before joining Will Saul's Aus Music and setting up their own label Feel My Bicep in September 2012. [6] That year the pair were awarded DJ Mag's 'Best of British Breakthrough DJ' award. [7]
After signing to Ninja Tune in 2017, Bicep released their debut album Bicep , which went in at number 20 on the UK Albums Chart, [8] and received support from publications such as Pitchfork , The Guardian , Resident Advisor and Mixmag . [9] The lead single, "Glue", was voted by the public as DJ Mag's (Best of British) Track of the Year. [10] It also reached number 1 on Amazon's Best Electronic of 2017, [11] and came second in Mixmag 's 100 Best Tracks of 2017. [12]
Bicep released their second album Isles on Ninja Tune on 22 January 2021. They released the lead single "Apricots" with a music video from BAFTA-winner director Mark Jenkin. [13] "Apricots" scored Top-50 entries in both the UK's Official Singles Chart [14] and Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs Chart, was named Billboard's #1 dance track of 2020, [15] hit #1 on the UK's Shazam chart, and spent 10 weeks on the BBC Radio 1 playlist. [16]
The album was nominated for Best Irish Album of 2021 for the Choice Music Prize. [17]
Isles was number one on the midweek UK Albums Chart for the week beginning 25 January 2021, [18] before debuting at number two on the final chart, scooping a number 1 on the UK Official Vinyl Albums Chart, [19] additionally breaking into multiple Billboard charts including number 12 on the Dance/Electronic Chart. [20]
The duo made a pivot to ticketed streams during the coronavirus pandemic, delivering two shows broadcast across 5 timezones. The shows were watched in over 70 countries worldwide, [21] giving fans new live material ahead of the return of in-person shows. The second global stream was recorded at London's Saatchi Gallery and was awarded four stars by The Guardian , [22] with NME calling it an innovative and boundary-pushing audiovisual show. [23]
Following the release of Isles, Bicep were nominated in two categories at the 2021 BRIT Awards for 'British Group' and 'Breakthrough Artist'. [24]
Between 2017 and 2018, the duo embarked on a live headline world tour to venues across the world, including the US, Japan and Europe. In the UK, they played shows at Electric Brixton, [25] Roundhouse [26] and three consecutive dates alongside Overmono at Printworks in London, [27] which was filmed by Resident Advisor and one of their final live shows until 2020. [28]
Bicep headlined their first major British festival at Field Day in August 2021.

Robert Ferguson, known professionally as Fergie, is a Northern Irish DJ and electronic music artist from Larne. He has been an internationally touring DJ and a music producer for over 20 years. He presented a radio show on BBC Radio 1 for over four years while recording 13 Essential Mixes for the station. He was featured in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll seven years in a row and currently holds the record for the highest new entry since the poll began, achieved when he was voted 8th in 2000.
Adam Richard Wiles, known professionally as Calvin Harris, is a Scottish DJ, singer, songwriter, and record producer. His debut studio album, I Created Disco, was released in June 2007. Its singles "Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls" both reached the top 10 in the UK. In 2009, he released his second studio album, Ready for the Weekend, which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and whose lead single, "I'm Not Alone", became his first song to top the UK Singles Chart.
Maya Jane Coles is a British music producer, audio engineer and DJ, born in London. Under her real name, she mostly composes and plays house and techno music, while her alias Nocturnal Sunshine creates darker, more bass-driven productions with a heavy hip-hop and dub influence. She was previously part of an electronic dub duo called She Is Danger with Lena Cullen.
Disclosure are an English electronic music duo consisting of brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence. They grew up in Reigate, Surrey. Their debut studio album, Settle, released on 3 June 2013, by PMR Records, was nominated for Best Dance/Electronica Album at the 2014 Grammy Awards. They released a second studio album, Caracal, on 25 September 2015 which was also nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards. Their third studio album, Energy, was released on 28 August 2020, and was nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards, alongside the fourth single from the album, "My High", which was nominated for Best Dance Recording.

Kim Min-ji, known as Peggy Gou, is a South Korean DJ, singer, songwriter and record producer based in Berlin, Germany. She has released seven EPs on record labels including Ninja Tune and Phonica. In 2019, she launched her own independent record label named Gudu Records, and released a DJ-Kicks compilation titled DJ-Kicks: Peggy Gou, through !k7 Records. Her debut album I Hear You is scheduled to be released on 7 July 2024 through XL Recordings.
Alice Moxom in London, England, known professionally as Moxie, is a London based DJ, music publisher and event promoter.
"Atlas" is a song by Northern Irish electronic music duo Bicep from their second studio album, Isles (2021). It was released through independent record label Ninja Tune as the first single from the album on 24 March 2020. A 12-inch vinyl single was released on 3 April 2020. The song contains a vocal sample from Israeli singer Ofra Haza's 1988 a capella track "Love Song", written by Bezalel Aloni. "Atlas" peaked at number 91 on the UK Singles Chart and charted at number 90 in Ireland.
Leifur James is a London-based experimental producer, composer and vocalist known for his esoteric avant-garde style. In 2018, his critically acclaimed debut album A Louder Silence was released on Night Time Stories, which was followed by a second album Angel In Disguise in June 2020.
Pelada is a Canadian musical duo which formed in 2014. The duo is composed of vocalist Chris Vargas and instrumentalist Tobias Rochman. The group's music utilizes minimalist electronic instrumentation, including synthesizers, samplers and MIDI based drum machines.
