Bigg Boss 8, which merged into Bigg Boss Halla Bol , was the eighth season of the Indian reality television series Bigg Boss , which premiered on TV channel Colors from 21 September 2014 [1] [2] and concluded on 3 January 2015 with five final contestants. [3] Bigg Boss is the Indian edition of Big Brother . [4] Salman Khan returned as the host of the series for the fifth time [5] [6] [7] [8] and Snapdeal was chosen to be the new presenting sponsor after the end of Colors' five-year deal with Vodafone India for the series. [9]
After the finale of season with five champions, Bigg Boss Halla Bol [10] a spin-off was launched on 4 January. It merged with the regular series and continued in the same house. [11] Five contestants from previous seasons entered the house to compete with five crowned regular entrants of the season finale. [12] Farah Khan became the new host [13] as Salman bid adieu due to his filming schedule of Bajrangi Bhaijaan . [14]
The series premiered in India on network Colors on 21 September 2014. [15] The series was also broadcast in Pakistan on ARY Digital beginning 28 September 2014, [16] [17] and was additionally broadcast in the United Kingdom on Colors UK beginning 21 September 2014. [18]
The house for the eighth season was in Lonavala. It resembled the interior of an aircraft.[ citation needed ] After the first eviction, the house was made available to the housemates. The physical layout of the house remained mostly unchanged from the previous series. However, the house theme was changed to an Alpine chalet with wood, fur and leather furnishings. [19]
On launch night, it was revealed that there was a place adjacent to the 'Plane crash' area known as 'The Secret Society.' Later, Deepshika, Pritam and Puneet were chosen by Bigg Boss to become cult celebrities who would live in the society in secret, away from the rest of the housemates. It was then announced that they would have the power to nominate housemates of their choice to face the first public vote and have immunity from nomination. On day 3, the secret society revealed itself to the viewers as per Bigg Boss' order and introduced themselves. [20] [21] [22] [23] On Day 5, Puneet was moved to plane crash area and later on Day 8 the other two secret society members Deepshika and Pritam joined him. [24] [25]
In the fifteenth week Bigg Boss announced that show had been extended for four weeks [26] and, unlike previous seasons, crowned its five champions on 3 January, concluding season 8 finale, where spin-off Bigg Boss Halla Bol launched and merged with the regular season. [10] [27]
The spin-off series officially launched on 4 January, [28] with the five Halla Bol Challengers from previous seasons, which includes Ajaz Khan, Sambhavna Seth, Mahek Chahal, Rahul Mahajan and Sana Khan. Sana Khan's entrance was disclosed later as a fifth challenger by production team. [29] Before the official announcement, only Ajaz Khan entered the house on Day 99. The new spin-off format of Champions and Challengers with ten contestants was hosted by Farah Khan as contractually, Salman Khan leaves the series after season finale. [30]

Bigg Boss is a popular Indian Hindi-language reality television show of the Bigg Boss franchise in India that airs on Colors TV. It is based on the Dutch format of Big Brother, developed by Endemol. Since its premiere on November 3, 2006, the show has completed eighteen seasons and three OTT (Over-The-Top) seasons. Throughout its run, Bigg Boss has seen a variety of hosts. The first season was hosted by Arshad Warsi, followed by Shilpa Shetty in the second season and Amitabh Bachchan in the third. Farah Khan led the Halla Bol season, while Sanjay Dutt co-hosted the fifth season with Salman Khan. Since season 4, Salman Khan has taken the helm as the show's primary host. As of now, a total of 329 contestants have participated in Bigg Boss. Out of these, 13 contestants have returned for other seasons, while 2 contestants played as proxy contestants and 4 contestants were not selected by the audience, preventing them from entering the house. As of season 17, Bigg Boss has aired a total of 1,864 episodes and currently, season 18 is on air.
Puneet Issar is an Indian actor, writer, director, producer and dialect coach best known for his works in Hindi films, Bengali films, Telugu films, Kannada Films, Malayalam Films and television shows. Issar started his acting career as a villain in Manmohan Desai's 1983 film Coolie, but gained recognition with the portrayal of Duryodhana in B. R. Chopra's television series Mahabharat (1988–1990).
Karishma K Tanna is an Indian actress and model who predominantly works in Hindi films and television shows. She made her television debut with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi in 2001. She is well known for her roles in Paalkhi, Naagin 3 and Qayamat Ki Raat. She was a contestant on the reality show Bigg Boss 8 in 2014, where she emerged as the 1st runner-up. In 2020, she participated in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 10 and emerged as the winner.
Bigg Boss 4 is the fourth season of Indian reality TV show Bigg Boss, which aired on Colors TV from 3 October 2010. This season was longer than its predecessor, Bigg Boss 3 and lasted for 14 weeks ending on 8 January 2011. Salman Khan joined the show for the first time as host and has subsequently hosted all the following seasons. Sonali Raut is an Indian actress and model who appears in Hindi films. She has been a Kingfisher Calendar Girl since 2010, and was 19 when she featured in the annual calendar. Raut made her acting debut with romantic-thriller film The Xpose in 2014 opposite Himesh Reshammiya and Yo Yo Honey Singh in a lead role. She was a contestant in the reality television show Bigg Boss 8.

It premiered on Colors TV on 1 October 2022. Salman Khan hosted the show for the thirteenth time. The grand finale aired on 12 February 2023, where MC Stan emerged as the winner and Shiv Thakare as the runner-up. The season went on to become one of the most successful seasons in the show's history.
Bigg Boss 15, also known as Bigg Boss: "Sankat in Jungle" was the fifteenth season of the Indian reality TV series Bigg Boss. It premiered on 2 October 2021 on Colors TV. Salman Khan hosted the season for the twelve time. The grand finale aired on 30 January 2022 where Tejasswi Prakash emerged as the winner while Pratik Sehajpal as the runner-up. It premiered on 17 June 2023 on JioCinema with Salman Khan as the host for the first time of OTT version. The grand finale took place on 14 August 2023 where Elvish Yadav emerged as the winner and Abhishek Malhan emerged as the runner-up.
Bigg Boss 17 also known as Bigg Boss: Dil, Dimaag aur Dum Ka Game was the seventeenth season of the Indian Hindi-language reality television show Bigg Boss. It premiered on 15 October 2023 on Colors TV and JioCinema. Salman Khan hosted the show for the fourteenth time. The grand finale aired on 28 January 2024, where Munawar Faruqui emerged as the winner and Abhishek Kumar was the runner-up.
