The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) [1] [2] [3] is a Group 'C' civil service recruitment body for Bihar Police created by a bill of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. The commission's purpose is to select applicants in various government departments for Group 'C' staff jobs in the Bihar Police according to the merits of the applicants and the rules of reservation. History

Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) Bill was passed in Bihar State Assembly on 31 March 2016. The Government created the commission in order to handle the recruitment of subordinate staff of only those departments where the recruits covered are required to abide by certain physical fitness norms and also have to wear prescribed uniforms. These recruitment were previously being handled by Staff Selection Commission which was heavily burdened. Large scale vacancies in various government departments prompted the government to bring in BPSSC bill. [5]

In March 2017 Home Department of Bihar Government issued order filling up the positions of Chairman, Member Secretary and Members of the commission. Sunit Kumar was appointed as the first Chairman of the commission. [6]

Composition of Commission

BPSSC is a four-member body, including chairman, who should be DG or ADG rank officer from the police department (Retired or Serving officer). The commission also includes one Member Secretary and two Members. While manning BPSSC, mandatory representation has to be given to scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) categories. [7]

Recruitment

Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission is tasked with recruitment of Group C staff of Bihar Government where the recruits covered are required to abide by certain physical fitness norms and also have to wear prescribed uniforms. The departments concerned for recruitment by the commission are police, jail, forest and excise. Government posts with grade pay of Rs 4,200 are recruited through the commission. These posts include sub-inspector (SI), company commander (home guards), fire station officer, assistant jail superintendent, sub-inspector (excise),Constable and forest guard, among others. [8]

Sunit Kumar, is a retired Indian Police Service (I.P.S.) officer of Bihar cadre in India, currently serving as Chairman of Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) in the state of Bihar. He has also served as Director General of Police in the state of Bihar retiring from service in November 2015. He belongs to the I.P.S. batch of 1980. He has also served as Director of Bihar Police Academy and Chairman of the Bihar Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC).

Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC)(Hindi: केन्द्रीय चयन पर्षद [सिपाही भर्ती]) is an organization under Government of Bihar to recruit Group 'D' civil servants for Bihar Police. The board is headed by a three-star rank Additional Director General or Director General level police officer. Current chairman of the commission is K.S. Dwivedi.

Mithila Student Union (MSU) (Maithili : मिथिला स्टूडेंट यूनियन) is a non-political student organisation whose sole purpose is the development of Mithila and Maithils living in India. It is one of the largest student organisations in Bihar. It is a registered organization under the provisions of the Societies Registration Act, 1860 under the Indian constitution. Laxmi Narayan Sudhanshu (1906–1974) was an Indian writer, litterateur, poet, independent activist and political leader. He won the 1952 Bihar Legislative Assembly election from an assembly seat in Purnia. He also held the post of Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 1962 to 1967. Sudhanshu is known for actively participating in the Quit India Movement in 1942. He was imprisoned in Bhagalpur jail by the Britishers.

Bihar State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd. (BELTRON) is a Government of Bihar undertaking. BELTRON is an executive wing of the state IT department and handles Government of Bihar's technological needs. It works to promote the electronics hardware manufacturing and IT industry and provide high-quality, service-oriented consultancy services within Bihar. BELTRON recruits employees in the departments of Government of Bihar, when requisition is sought from BELTRON by the departments. In 2016, BELTRON provided free Wi-Fi service in over 300 colleges and nine universities of Bihar. In 2021, BELTRON developed an innovative Home Isolation Tracking (HIT) app under the guidance of the health department, during COVID-19 pandemic in India. HIT app keeps an eye on the condition of COVID patients recuperating at their residence. BELTRON is providing IT support for Bihar caste-based survey 2023, and hired the services of a Maharashtra-based private firm Trigyn Technologies to develop the mobile app- Bijaga, which is available on Google Play. It host the data on cloud.

Bihar State Sunni Waqf Board is a statutory body established in 1948 under The Bihar Waqf Act 1947. It is under the State Ministry of Minority Welfare. It came under the provision of the Central Waqf Act 1954 in year 1973. It has another split of Bihar State Shia Waqf Board. The State Government of Bihar had enacted a new act named Bihar Waqf Act 1995 and constituted Bihar State Sunni Waqf Board with a new department on 3 October 2001.

The Bihar State Haj Committee is a statutory body for Haj pilgrimage under the Ministry of Minority Welfare in Government of Bihar. It is located at the Ali Imam Path on the Harding Road, Patna in the Indian state of Bihar. It is built and managed under the Hajj Committee of India, and recognised under the Haj Committee Act, 2002. The committee runs a Haj House at Patna, the State capital named Patna Haj Bhawan. It is chaired by the Alhaj Abdul Haque as the chairman. The committee looks over the Haj pilgrimage in the state of Bihar. The Patna Haj Bhawan was inaugurated by Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar on 17 October 2007.

Haj Bhawan is a complex in the Patna district in Bihar, India. It provides accommodations for Muslims on their way to Hajj. It is run by the Bihar State Haj Committee. it was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar on 17 October 2007.
