Patna Regional Development Authority abbreviated as PRDA, is a body of the Government of Bihar that is responsible for the infrastructure development of the Patna Metropolitan Region (PMR). It was established by the Bihar State Government with the sole purpose of the developing the infrastructure of the Patna Metropolitan Region. After Enactment of Bihar Municipal Act 2007, it is now merged into Patna Municipal Corporation. [2]

Overview

After disbanding Patna Improvement Trust, the PRDA was set up in 1975 and was formed in 1979 [3] under the provision of Patna Regional Development Authority act 1978 for preparation of Regional Plan, Master Plan and Zonal Plan.

Patna Master Plan

In October 2016, Bihar cabinet approved the Patna master plan 2031 which envisages development of Bihta Airport. [4] Bihar government is acquiring 126 acres of land for construction of the new airport. [5] 17.6 km2 of area in Dumri Village in Punpun block of Patna (PMR) has been allocated for IT Park. Patna Metropolitan Region is an official definition of the metropolitan area surrounding the Bihar capital city Patna in India. It is also known as the Patna metropolitan area, or Patna planning area. It consists of one municipal corporation and five municipal councils of Patna district. The entire region has an estimated population of 3,874,000 over an area of 1,167.04 km². The Government of Bihar notified this area on 13 August 2014, replacing PRDA area, which included Hajipur in Vaishali district and Sonpur in Saran district.

Bapudham Motihari Railway Station is a major railway station in Motihari through which 2 lines pass one towards Muzaffarpur and other towards Sitamarhi via Sheohar, it lies in the headquarter city of East Champaran district of Bihar. Its station code is BMKI. The station mainly consists of four platforms and acts as the main station in the city of Motihari, which is being developed under 'The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme' and to celebrate 150 years of Mahatama Gandhi. In February 2022, the Indian Railways had planned to set up a railway station Development Corporation (RSDC) that would work on improving the major railway stations, including Bapudham Motihari, by building and improving passenger amenities.[4] Under the development scheme, major development works are going on Bapudham Motihari. Separate air conditioned waiting lounge, free WiFi facility, IRCTC food court and many facilities are going to be available on Bapudham Motihari at the end of 2024. To enhance the security of this station, a metal detector and baggage handling system will be installed soon.

The distance of Nayagaon to Patna(Patliputra) has been reduced from earlier 45 km to 15 km due to Digha–Sonpur rail–road bridge. Nayagaon is located on NH 19, Nayagaon Sarai. Nayagaon is located at Mouza/Mauja Rasulpur. It is located along river Ganges. It is also near the under construction Hajipur-Chhapra-Ghazipur four-lane Highway. The distance to AIIMS Patna in Phulwari Sharif is also reduced due to Digha-AIIMS elevated highway. Census code of Nayagaon is 234491. A power sub-station became functional in Nayagaon under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana in August 2020. An ITI is also planned in Nayagaon. Nayagaon is 12 km from Rail Wheel Plant, Bela, Dariapur Block in Saran. A stadium is being constructed at the cost of Rs 55 lakhs in the sports ground of Gogal Singh Intermediate College, Nayagaon. An inter-modal terminal at Kalughat, Nayagaon is being constructed as part of National Waterway 1 under the government's Jal Marg Vikas project.

Bharpura Pahlejaghat Junction, station code PHLG, is a railway station in Sonpur division of East Central Railway. Bharpura Pahlejaghat Junction is located in Sonpur city in Saran district in the Indian state of Bihar. It is located on the north end of Digha–Sonpur rail–road bridge, while Patliputra is on the south end of the bridge. Pahleja Station is 3.81 km from Sonpur and 11.46 km from Patliputra. It is connected to Sonpur on its east side and Parmanandpur station on its west side. In June 2017, a 20 kW roof top hybrid solar plant with 20% storage facility installed and commissioned at Pahaleja Ghat railway station.

Bari Path is a road in Patna, the capital of Bihar. It was named after Professor Abdul Bari in 1948 after his murder in Khusrupur, Patna. Bari House was situated in this road. Mahatma Gandhi came to Bari House on 29 March 1947, the day after Bari's death. It connects Gandhi Chowk to Gandhi Maidan, runs parallel to Ashok Rajpath. It connects with Ashok Rajpath in many points, such as in Ramna Road, Khazanchi Road.
