Blake Nikitaras (born 29 April 2000) is an Australian cricketer who plays for New South Wales and Sydney Thunder. He is a left-handed batsman. He is the son of international cricketer Steve Nikitaras. [1]
Nikitas is from Oak Flats in the Illawarra region of New South Wales. He plays for St George Cricket Club in NSW Premier Cricket. [2]
Ahead of the 2020-21 season Nikitaras injured his anterior cruciate ligament playing a friendly game of basketball and missed the majority of the season instead rehabbing for months at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. [3]
In March 2022 Nikitaras made his first-class debut for New South Wales scoring 44 and 56 against the South Australia cricket team in the Sheffield Shield. [4] This earned him a rookie deal with NSW for the 2022-23 season. [5] [6]
In December 2022 Nikitaras was given a contract for the Big Bash League with Sydney Thunder. [7] [8]
He is the son of former professional cricketer Steve Nikitaras. [9]
The New South Wales men's cricket team are an Australian men's professional first class cricket team based in Sydney,New South Wales. The team competes in the Australian first class cricket competition known as the Sheffield Shield and the limited overs Marsh One-Day Cup. The Sydney Sixers are an Australian professional franchise men's cricket team,competing in Australia's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition,the Big Bash League (BBL). Along with the Sydney Thunder,the Sixers are the successors of the New South Wales Blues who played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. The Sixers play at Sydney Cricket Ground in the south-eastern area of the inner city while the Thunder play out of Sydney Showground Stadium further west. The inaugural coach was Trevor Bayliss,who was replaced in 2015 by current coach Greg Shipperd. The Sixers' inaugural captain was Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin. Both Steve Smith and Moises Henriques have also spent time captaining the team.
