The New South Wales men's cricket team are an Australian men's professional first class cricket team based in Sydney,New South Wales. The team competes in the Australian first class cricket competition known as the Sheffield Shield and the limited overs One-Day Cup. The team previously played in the now defunct Twenty20,Big Bash,which has since been replaced by the Big Bash League since the 2011–12 season. New South Wales were the inaugural winners of the Champions League Twenty20.

Alexander James Doolan is an Australian former cricketer,who played domestic cricket for Tasmania from 2009 to 2021 and played four Test matches for Australia in 2014. Despite almost scoring a century on debut,Doolan was dropped after his fourth match and never returned to the national team. He retired from cricket in 2021. As of December 2022,Doolan is the eighth-highest Sheffield Shield run-scorer of all-time for Tasmania.

The Sydney Sixers is an Australian professional franchise men's cricket team,competing in Australia's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition,the Big Bash League (BBL). Along with the Sydney Thunder,the Sixers are the successors of the New South Wales Blues who played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. The Sixers play at Sydney Cricket Ground at Moore Park in Sydney's eastern suburbs,whilst the Thunder play at the Sydney Showground Stadium in the city's western suburbs. The inaugural coach was Trevor Bayliss,who was replaced in 2015 by current coach Greg Shipperd. The Sixers' inaugural captain was Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin. Both Steve Smith and Moises Henriques have also spent time captaining the team.
Peter Michael Nevill is an Australian former cricketer who played 17 Tests and 9 T20 internationals for Australia. He also represented New South Wales and the Melbourne Stars,having previously played for the Melbourne Renegades and the Sydney Sixers. He was Australia's regular Test wicket-keeper from the second test of 2015 Ashes series until being dropped in November 2016. He made his Twenty20 International debut for Australia against South Africa on 4 March 2016. He retired in April 2022.
Kurtis Robert Patterson is an Australian cricketer who plays for the New South Wales cricket team in the Sheffield Shield,and the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League. Patterson scored a century on his first-class cricket debut for New South Wales in November 2011,becoming the youngest batsman to score a century in Sheffield Shield cricket. In January 2019,he made his Test debut for Australia against Sri Lanka,becoming the 457th person to play test cricket for Australia. He made a century in just his second test match in Canberra,also against Sri Lanka. He was not selected for the 2019 Ashes series and returned to play domestically in the 2019/2020 season. He has the highest average of any Test batsman who has lost their wicket at least once.
Joe Matthew Mennie is an Australian professional cricketer. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler for South Australia,the representative team of the South Australian Cricket Association,and in the 2017–18 Big Bash League season he will begin playing for the Melbourne Renegades,his fourth BBL team.

Cartwright made his Test debut for the Australian national team in January 2017,having earlier played for Australia A and the National Performance Squad. In January 2017 he won the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year prize awarded by Cricket Australia.

It began on 10 October 2019 and was scheduled to finish on 31 March 2020. The first four rounds took place prior to the international Test series against Pakistan,and in addition the season breaks for the Big Bash League. Victoria were the defending champions.
